If you’re looking to purchase an authentic artifact made locally by any tribe, The Caribou Creek Company is the place to find it. Mostly all the pieces they have are authentically created from tribes people. They have everything from jewelry, carvings both large and small, paintings and artifacts you won’t see elsewhere.Something for everyone’s budget too. They are very friendly and help you find what you’re looking for. They have all the history of the artisans, meanings behind the work crafted and are happy to share that with you.I purchased a small 2 sided carved fossilized walrus ivory bone. I’m very happy the nice lady found this special piece for me.

Great little shop, but got my souvenir home and went to put it on display and found the ear broken off of the moose carving I bought. I have searched my backpack it was in for the ear. Not here. Also cannot put an antler back on the wire it belongs on because half of the tunnel for the wire is gone. Same side as the ear. Seems like they broke it and bubble wrapped it that way anyway.

I must have spent hours here, just looking for the right souvenirs of our trip through the Inside Passage. There were so many beautiful pieces of native art that it was hard to decide on just a few. Michelle was especially helpful and friendly. We'll definitely be back here on our next trip.

This place is fantastic. There’s a lot of touristy stores in Ketchikan, to be expected, but this place is really great. Lots of awesome pieces and Dominque in the store was super helpful. Overall if you’re looking for great pieces or just some small stuff to help accentuate your house/office this is the place to come in the city!

Pretty certain this knife is not made in Alaska that I purchased from them for over 300 bucks. (Was told it was made in Anchorage) The exact design and shieth is on ebay for 15 to 25 bucks. Knife did not come with paper work. We was in a hurry to get back on cruise ship and I took the guy at his word for it being authentic. Apparently ppl in Alaska are liars also. You also can't get in touch with them. Be aware. They have neat items but pricing is way too much. My fault for falling I guess.

Do not shop at Caribou Creek if you cannot take your purchase with you. You will never receive it. They say they will ship but they just steal your money. I am going to make sure my cruise line puts them on a bad list!

First of all if you are stopping in Ketchikan as a port on a cruise ship do not fall prey to all the jewelry shops in town (or any town for that matter!!!). The jewelry shops often are owned BY the cruise ships so they direct you to them as trusted shops bc they want YOUR MONEY!!!We didn't have any set plans while in Ketchikan for a few hours but I wanted to help support the locals and investigate some native jewelry. I find the more unique pieces of jewelry are more interesting, historically significant, and bring many questions and compliments from others! Plus you are helping to support the community members that live there year round- not just there to make bank during cruising season May to September!!! Make your purchases thoughtfully. We entered the store after seeing "locally owned and operated" posted outside the store. I aim to make my purchases mean something instead of merely buying junk. They have such a fascinating array of carvings- totems of various sizes, animal horns, mammoth tusks, and jewelry pieces of all sorts! I'm not a huge jewelry gal but when I find something that is interesting and speaks to my soul I get interested. The family that owns the store has lived in Ketchikan for many years and utilizes local artisans for products in the shop. Buy local!!!The mammoth carvings and different pieces of jewelry fascinated me. The mammoth tusks have been discovered in areas of Alaska further north. Stop buying blood diamonds and expensive tanzanite that is excavated on the backs on Tanzanians. This shop has authentic and unique pieces for a variety of prices. The young woman working with me gave me some history about the mammoth and asked to look at a mammoth pendant. I chose a sterling silver chain of my liking and have been wearing the necklace and pendant since! It's such a unique and question provoking piece- I'm wearing a piece of history...why could be cooler than that!Visit this locally owned and operated store- buy local and make thoughtful purchases!

Great locally owned store with some of the nicest employees in Ketchikan. We spent the day in Ketchikan with thousands of other tourist and were most impressed with this store. The is full of locally hand made merchandise that is unique to the tribes/culture of the area. As we were walking through the store, and employee gave both of my children a free walrus tooth. The kids were so excited for the tooth, with my 7 year old joking he wanted to put the tooth under the pillow to see if the tooth fairy would come. The store has a very clean and organized feel. You have a sliding scale with price. You can buy large totem poles that the store willShip to your home, to large hand carved items out of bones and polished rocks. If you are looking for a place with unique souvenirs/ gifts, the. this is the place to visit. Especially if you are on a cruise and do not have much time to visit all of Ketchikan.

The best Curio shop in Alaska! Locally owned and not a chain! Some of the coolest ivory, scrimshaw, and bone art I've ever seen. Dominique and Justine know their stuff and have some of the most unique gifts to offer! I'm now the proud owner of an Oosik collection thanks to them!
