Great place to shop. Large selection of Alaska books and Alaska authors. Author signed books! Nice selections of gifts. Get your books stamped there with store stamp. Would suggest to update photos. Pictures from several years ago could go. Nice pictures of todays inventory would be wonderful! See you next visit.

Thoughtful and well-stocked local bookstore with a tremendous selection of Alaska-themed books covering nearly every facet-- history, wildlife, trails, poetry, photography and art, etc. Terrific selection, and well-worth your time browsing. Having been to a bookstore called Parnassus in Nashville TN, we got to thinking about the meaning or significance of "Parnassus" in regards to books. Casually, I inquired as to the meaning of the name, and obviously touched a nerve-- we were quickly informed that the bookstore in Nashville had only had been around for 10 years, and they had been around for 40, and basically assumed that I was so idiotic as to be confusing the two places or thinking that they were a chain. The owner was still sputtering about it as we made our purchases. Other than that, great place, just don't mention the other bookstore-- it's a whole situation.

I’m disappointed that TripAdvisor post a 2019 review blurb as the main click line. This store is amazing. Was there June 2023. So much more than books. Local craft items and gifts. I bought a metal ornament of a totem and everyone back home wishes I had brought one for them. The staff was great. One employee had found a cell phone on the walk and picked it up hoping the owner would notice and come in. The owner actually called their phone and the employee told them where to pick it up. The range in books on Alaska was vast. Would totally recommend. Much nicer to visit than the mostly jewelry stores owned by he cruise companies.

We were in Ketchikan for our Alaskan cruise and had some extra time before an excursion so we explored the town. The majority of the town is clearly geared toward the tourist trade--but we asked the clerk at the Southeast Alaska Discovery Center for some recommendations of shops *owned* by locals and Parnassus was one of the stores he suggested. We're book people--so it was really a great find for us and we ended up with a selection of books about Alaska for the whole family, which they kindly offered to ship back home for us (for a *very* reasonable fee). The store is small--but they did have a kids section and a good selection of books about Alaska, Alaskan history, native history in the area, etc. If you love books (or even just like 'em) and are looking for something that's not your standard tourist tchotchkes, I would highly recommend stopping in!

Such a great place! So I wandered in here during a cruise stop. I had not found Creek Street and was pretty bummed walking around when I saw this store. I love bookstores, so I stopped in and was so glad I did. It is not only a great store, but the staff is wonderful. I don't know the name of the woman my husband and I talked to, but she helped us find Creek Street and a couple other good places to visit. Wish I would have had more time to spend in there. Definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys bookstores.

Friendly and offered help to find what we needed. Also offered to order if they didn't have something we needed. They had child friendly books, puzzles, cook books, history, and post cards. And much much more! Definitly 100% worth stopping and just checking out before you leave town.

What a wonderful oasis of an independent bookstore in lovely little Ketchikan. The shopkeepers had a nice display of local Alaskan authors and I was so glad to get thoughtful and informed recommendations on several. These books nourished my soul as we continued our Alaskan adventure. They have a great selection and is carefully curated and the shopkeepers were terrific in their suggestions. Thank you, Parnassus, for some excellent reads that immersed me in the Alaskan Experience. Don't over look Tom Hunt's The Cove. A wonderful local read.
