Decent grocery store in Ketchikan. Alaska grocery - some items out of stock, others not. Easy to get alternatives in most cases as per a walk through we made acquiring a couple items. Less than a mile up from the piers. We needed an energy drink fix & got one!

This is one of Three places you can get groceries Alaskan&Proud is Second the Third being Walmart but only because technically they have Some grocery items but Super Store they are not. Being open until midnight and being the closest to downtown is what makes them 4star.

I think this is one of very few grocery stores in the town. I came here for the Starbucks to get my Alaska cup and I noticed the beautiful caramel apples and fall themed cakes in the bakery. Seems like a decent grocery store.

The oaken barrel is a terrible place to shop. I went in there tonight to buy some wine. The girl who waited on us was so rude it is shocking that anyone shops there. Be aware if you walk in with anyone not only will you have to give your ID but they want the other persons ID as well. My husband had walked in with our daughter but she went outside after picking her wine. The rude girl said I need her ID as well as yours. She was so terribly rude and took the bottles back so he left the store. He went right next door and bought the wine for less money and was treated nicely. He went back to Safeway and told her they lost a sixty dollar purchase because she was so rude. She told him I don't care at all. He asked to speak to her manager who also did not care either. How do people like this stay in business. Shame on Safeway for treating their customers so rudely. Don't shop here for any liquor needs.

This review is purely for the Safeway Chinese Food. IT SUCKED! My aunt who now lives in Ketchikan, and my husband who is visiting, are both avid fans of Safeway Chinese across the greater Tacoma area in WA state. They really did not believe that Safeway could make bad Chinese... I mean if you like Safeway Chinese you have a specific taste you're going for, right? Both my aunt and husband refused to finish their food... it was THAT BAD. Something needs to change with this place- Safeway Chinese is a staple in all communities... this is a disgrace to Ketchikan. Other than that, this Safeway is really nice.

Oaken Keg sucks! They have this new rule apparently that whoever is with the person purchasing liquor has to. How their ID as well. Ludicrous! First off, I'm am way over 21 and that's obvious, am not purchasing it, and I don't even drink (not that they would know that). But tell me why? So a mother brings her kid with her to buy liqueur. The kid will have to whip out his ID? Girl at register says it's been in effect for 6 years. Why is it that only THIS girl has asked for this twice, nobody else there? And only this year, not in the past 5? So they have me in camera? Doing what exactly? Helping someone shop for liquor? Insane!! Call the cops and have me arrested for being a bystander then!

We also came here from the cruise ship as there's no Starbucks closer. But so glad I did. Kaitlyn could not have been nicer. You are just exactly what extraordinary customer service is all about. Thank YOU.The lady with ALL the tea.

Every time I get groceries I have to bag them or box them myself. The people they have working there don't know how to bag or box groceries. If you're off the island and are shopping bag your OWN groceries! They don't know how to put the heavy items on the bottom of the boxes and if you get it bagged they mix meats with cleaners or fruits with some meats. This time I'm pretty upset, my strawberries (I bought 4 organic bins, @$6.99 a bin) were all squished, she put the strawberry bins on the bottom of the box and they all got squished, strawberry juice all over my other groceries! Mshe piled my celery and carrots on top of them, it also squished my tomatoes and peaches.. They need better trainers. I'm completely upset my perishable groceries were destroyed! Bag or box your own things!

What brought us here all the way from the cruise port?! Starbucks! Yes, my cousins were craving Starbucks, so we walked all the way to Safeway to get some. I, however, wanted to buy some water and soda, so Safeway was a great place to pick up some things we forget to bring onto our cruise ship. If you want some snacks, miscellaneous toiletries, etc, you'll probably find them here. If you end up buying drinks like we did and don't want to walk all the way back, there is a free shuttle back to downtown. We didn't take it, but there's a bus stop along the main road. So for items you may have forgotten to bring, it's worth the mile or so walk. And for my cousins, I guess Starbucks is worth walking over a mile!

The lady named JAN in the floral department was fantastic today. She took an order for Valentines Day to have it delivered to my son at his high school and she was so friendly , kind and helpful. I was very happy with her grand customer service. Oh if All customer service people were that sweet , the world would be a happier place ! Thankyou Jan !!!
