wow. what an experience. you HAVE to go here. The curator gave my friends and family a tour and was so dang nice...he ended up cooking us dinner and we all ate shrimp on his roof. so accommodating. I literally can't believe how the day played out, he is now y Childs godfather. I couldn't be happier. the museum is magic. I love Ketchikan and this museum.

The Tongass Historical Museum really provides you with a holistic view of the area and rich history. From the beginning with fossils to mining, oil, cannery (fish), logging, pulp mills, totem poles and the Tlingit people! There are 1,000’s of artifacts and pieces in their collection to see. They don’t charge very much ($6) to go thru and see all the fascinating nuggets of history!

Amazing place to go if you have time to kill and you love learning. Tickets only cost $6 for adults, $5 for elders, and anyone 17 and younger gets free entry. They have two exibits, the main one being Ketchikan history (including fishing, lumbering, and a little bit of mining history), and they also have a smaller dinosaur exhibit. They have a lot of items on display and I found it all very fascinating. They even recreated the framework for one lengend of that area, fit with it's real skull. I was there for over an hour and didn't even read every sign they had. Highly recommend, especially if you love museums like I do!

The museum clerk is very friendly and helpful to Tourists. I didn't get her name unfortunately. If you are going to this museum, then you might as well go to the Totem museum too that is up the river.

Interesting place that we visited on our cruise. Staff seemed a little rude and condescending. I’m from the south though so maybe I’ve just got a different perspective on friendliness idk.

A great way to spend an hour or so out of the rain. It's a small place, but packed with great exhibits and info. I particularly enjoyed the temporary section about community and what it means.

Very cool and informative! The black and white photos were awesome! A lot of contemporary information without being very political! Overall would go again, just to read all of the signs and watch the videos that are provided! 11/10
