I feel compelled to share my experience working at Safeway in order to warn potential employees about what they might encounter. My time at Safeway has been disappointing, to say the least, and I want others to be fully informed before considering employment there. The core values Safeway claims to uphold, including professionalism, punctuality, responsibility, achievement, loyalty, persistence, teamwork, and commitment, are far from reality in my experience. Promises made during orientation about the ability to switch shifts for better work-life balance turned out to be empty words. My attempts to address my concerns were met with indifference, leaving me frustrated and unsupported. One incident in particular, when I was absent due to health concerns on August 14th, highlighted a disturbing lack of communication and accountability. Despite being assured that my situation would be communicated to the team, it became clear that this step was overlooked. This negligence shattered the trust that’s crucial for a functional work environment. In light of these challenges, I made the difficult decision to resign from my position. This choice was driven by a misalignment between Safeway’s promises and the actual experiences of its employees. My advice to anyone considering employment at Safeway is to approach it with caution. Be prepared for a work environment that falls short of its own values and promises. Communication is key, so I strongly urge management, particularly Cartel, to prioritize honest and empathetic interaction with employees. This approach could prevent avoidable resignations and contribute to a more positive workplace.I hope that my candid review serves as a warning to those who are considering working at Safeway. It’s important to be aware of the challenges you might face and to make an informed decision about whether this is the right fit for you.

Appears to be good prices, but check your receipt carefully. There's ALWAYS at least one price adjustment. If you can follow the crazy receipt. It took me over a half hour to finally get prices straightened around, by the time I got home every frozen food was melted. Wrecked. You have to stand there and do their job for them-going back and forth down the aisles to get the prices for them. It's ridiculous. 100% of the time I've shopped in the past two years, there's always a price problem. And it's not a few cents, then you go to try to return items, that are probably melted, instead of waiting for the price change, yet you still have to wait while the rest of your groceries thaw.I'm done with Carrs -it's such a waste of time. Can never get anything done in there without walking around staring at your cell phone trying to figure out prices, digital deals, you get to the register and there is no digital deal. It has to be adjusted manually ?Just skip all the marketing nonsense, save the consumers money directly. Then I discovered when you try to close your account? They don't allow you to actually close your account. They are going to continue to sell all your data.you're not even allowed to close an account? They count on us not looking at our receipts, they're sucking data out of our phones in exchange for a few pennies that we don't end up saving unless we stand around for a half an hour waiting to have prices adjusted while the rest of our groceries thaw.Done with this grocery store.Waste of time. Too much hassle to save a few cents, and then you have to do their jobs for them.

This is a local grocery store that acts like a social magnet. Conveniently located in the center of town in a mall complex. If you are local you WILL end up blocking aisle traffic as you B.S. with all your friends. If you are not you are probably blocking up the parking lot with some 40' land yacht.ALBERTSON'S=SAFEWAY=CARRS

People at Safeway are always helpful, and polite. But if they don't have what you want they make suggestions on substitutions that are close

I like how they set up self checkout with hand scanner. Helpful for heavy and bulky items. The employee was very nice showing me how it works.
