Stopped here for a break before Denali, and gas was cheaper than Anchorage. People seemed very kind and nice. You can tell who are tourists, and they are a bit huffy, but oh well.

Lived in Talkeetna for years & never had any issues procuring propane from the gas station. Just went down to the Y(6/25/21) & the attendant informed me they no longer provide that particular service after 10pm it was 10:05. Guess dinner stays cold tonight

I try my best to avoid this gas station at all cost and I'm a local. I have had multiple encounters with rude employees. I have been told "you done NEED propane, like you need food and water." All because I said I need propane, as in to refill a tank. Last night was the last straw! See below. I went up to the Talkeetna Spur to the hardware store for a fireplace gasket. While up that way I was going to get propane at Tesoro, a gas station I hate to begin with(multiple encounters with rude employees). Anyways I pull up to Tesoro and tell the boys to go tell the staff we need propane. The boys do just that and then come back to tell me they "don't fill tanks past -10°F, I look at the temp on my car it says -9°F. I took a photo with my phone, the boys get in the car and I go into the store. I walk in and say I was told you don't pump past -10°, well it's -9° and show them. Some old crusty looking scarecrow of a lady says it's his fault and points to a fat balding man cleaning the soda counter. Then some fat woman with eyes that went like this with glasses butted in. Said she would go tell him. I asked the scarecrow, "can I exchange my yank, she said "yes." Then the scarecrow lady said "I just don't understand why people have to come in so late to get propane, why can't they come in during the day when it's warm!" Keep in mind it's 5:30 ish... I said "maybe because people just got off work and the sun in down in the winter when they get off work." Then she said "well I guess you have never worked in the cold have you.{here is where the white noise kicked in and I was pissed} You just don't know how hard it is to turn the dial!" I looked at her and said you know what ill go else were, and left. Okay earlier today when the sun was up and "warmer" it was -28°F. My eleven year old children work harder this this old hag of a woman! We ended up driving all the way to Huston to get the tank exchanged. I even asked there at Three Bears if we could get the tank filled but they stop filling at -15°(it was -18°), they said sorry for the inconvenience at least three times to me. I must have had "I'm pissed" written across my face.

Impatient and rude service. Stopped here for propane for the RV. Went in to ask and the attendant said to wait for someone to help us by the service tank. An employee came by and asked my parents to disconnect the fridge and stove. Parents did not understand immediately as they speak broken english. The woman repeated herself twice and immediately became impatient and said they do not have any propane and turned away. I confronted them inside the store about their terse and rude behavior and their excuse was that they were shorthand. That does not give anyone the right to talk to others like that.

August 18, 2019 there was a wildfire in the area that backed up traffic for miles. Around 20 charter buses were routed back to stop at their location to evacuate the danger zone. The crew worked diligently and positively to handle the overload of people.

This is almost a mandatory stop point. Fuel prices are about right for the location. I do appreciate the restroom renovations for the 2019 season. Coffee is pretty good and always available. Place is clean for the number of folks who stop in just to use the restrooms. They have RV spots and an RV dump station if you need it.

I drive a lot of trips up and down the Parks Highway and this is one of my favorite stops. The staff is always friendly, and I must say, for a gas station stop, this place has AMAZING chicken wings!!
