I highly recommend booking with Ray for your trophy duck hunt. Ray and his deckhand, Riechen, were as anxious as we were to get out and hunt. The Whittier weather delayed us a bit, but the stories and experiences that Ray and Riechen shared to pass the time, and to also get to know them, made the trip even more memorable. I understand how Ray earned the nickname “Crazy Ray,” as he had to get creative with how to get his boat out of the slip due to the horrible winds - that story will stay with us and that trip. It was then that I realized how passionate Ray was about giving his customers a satisfying hunt. Once we were out of Whittier, the entire boat had our trophy birds in hand after the first hunt. Ray and Riechen wasted no time in getting us onto birds, the hunts and hides were something special to be a part of. The hunting was so good that halfway through our last sit, I was so satisfied with my birds and shooting that I set the Benelli aside and just enjoyed the mountains and glacier in the background, watching the bald eagles circling, and videoing the birds lockup and drop into the decoys in repetition. If you want a grade A experience, Crazy Ray’s Adventures is your calling.

This was a trip of a life time and turned out that way. Everything was great from the Duck hunting to food to safety and everything in between. Ray gave us a great hunt well beyond my expectations. I would highly recommend

Absolutely epic trip. Ray's primary focus is getting you out and back safely, which is of upmost importance in this region. Second is getting you on the birds. We've hunted across the lower 48 and Ray's outfit is among the best. The advantage he has is the views. Shooting harlequin's from rocky shores with snow capped mountains in the distance is an experience like no other. The itinerary and suggested pack list is spot on, follow it when you are packing and you'll be fine. We look forward to planning our next adventure with Crazy Ray's!

Great captain and guide. Rakin is a fantastic asset Excellent trip. Only comment is the inclusion of 2-total non- paying friends blasting away. I got the trophy Harlequin duck I came for no problem, however.

My wife booked me for a trip to go halibut fishing in July. I was at the meeting place on time. When I got there I was told that there was a group coming from Anchorage that was joining me but they were running 15 minutes late. I said no problem and was told that they would make up time getting out to fish. 15 minutes turned into an hour. At that point I was told if they were not there in 5 minutes we were leaving without them. When the group showed up it was 5 adults and 7 kids . Finally got on the boat but now two hours behind. The captain came up and apologized for the delay and said he was going to make this right. I thanked him and told him I was going to make the best of it. And hoped to catch a 200 lb Halibut. The captain said that there were certain days they could fish for Halibut and this was not one of them. I did catch the largest salmon of the group. On our way to one spot to try for rockfish the captain approached me and said that the company was going to credit me for part of the trip. I thanked him and said that was very fair. When we got back, and I had phone service there was an email from my credit card company. They had refunded the whole trip! That was more than fair and I gave them a great review! A month and a half later, going through my current credit card statement there is a charge for a fishing trip at the end of August charged to my account. I tried contacting Crazy Rays but their voicemail said they were closed for the season. So I disputed it with my credit card company. Crazy Rays is denying the refund. Not a good experience. Crazy Rays office needs to work on their customer relations big time!

Crazy Rays charter was amazing! It was our first time fishing in Alaska and we had the best time. Ray is a master fisherman and helped everybody onboard catch a halibut. We had an excellent time and will book again

We went on a trip and crazy Ray’s out of Whittier on 16 August. The weather was exceptionally poor. However, this just shows the caliber of captains Crazy Ray’s employs. We fished with Captain John and had one of the best experiences and most fish filled trips my group has ever experienced. His professionalism, knowledge, personality, and experience made the trip stress-free. We caught an amazing number of fish and a got to be the envy of the docks after our catch was unloaded. I definitely will be rebooking, and I highly suggest anyone looking for a charter to book Crazy Ray’s

I have been on several Crazy Rays Charters now and I wish I would have given a google review from the get go. It really doesn’t matter what boat you get on, what captain you have at the helm, where you go, what the weather is going, or who is on the trip with you. The entire Crazy Rays staff no matter the season is top shelf. They know how to “read the room” and provide an on water experience that will leave you ready to book your next trip before you step off the boat. We nearly always fill the freezer with this crew but more than that we’re simply left wanting to go out again, you will not be disappointed booking these guys/gals for anything you see on the menu. And if you are disappointed well…. it might be on you 😂💪🏻🛥️🎣⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Our captain was knowledgeable and did a good job. However, we had a number of issues.
They did not send a deck hand with the captain, so we were only able to fish with 4 poles even though there were 6 of us on the 6-pack, so that cut down our potential to catch fish.
The owners sent the captain out of our way to check out a new spot on our way out and that wasted at least 30 minutes of our potential fishing time.
The boat was poorly maintained. The storage doors and head door would not stay shut and constantly swung open. The fish well drain would not work and was full of old, bloody water. As we started to head from one fishing spot to another, one of the props came off and then we were stuck. They had to send another boat to rescue us.
All in all, not a good experience.

Crazy Ray’s has always taken great care to insure a memorable experience fishing in Alaska. I have fished with them four time and plan to fish with them again in the future.
If you’re looking for a true Alaska adventure fishing in Alaska, give Crazy Ray’s a call.
Thanks again for a great time on the water.

I tried calling you, left you my number so you can call me back all I got was your automated email asking for a review….So here you go!
Fishing Experience what it comes down to is a Minimalist as you described in your email by checking the boxes vs Maximumizing the experience which is my goal.
I take 10 to 15 Fishing Charters per year all over North America, I am taking 5 this week. I don't book party charters because I want to ensure I control who I fish with, I often fish a 6 pack with only myself or 1 or 2 friends.
FV ICrazy 2 was disappointing and did not measure up to expectations.
1. Mechanical Failure at 1:00pm Prop fell off the engine. Then we spent an hour looking for a spare prop and contacting you.
2. One windshield wiper working, other completely missing.
All of the compartment doors are held shut with a dish rag folded over 2-1/2 times and jammed in the crack to keep the doors from falling open since none of the latches would hold the doors closed.
3. The water hose did not work, so everything had to be washed down with a bucket on a rope.
4. The bathroom door would not latch and had to be blocked so it wouldn't keep swinging open.
5. Seat back in the cabin across from the driver would not stay in place
6. And in general the boat lacked good maintenance that you would expect from a 1st class charter operation that is charging its customers premium rates for a full day of fishing.
7. Next issue, I booked a Private 6 Pack Fishing Vessel, only to be told by the captain that the boat could only handle 4 rods at a time plus it was only him no deck hand. So in reality we got a 4 pack and our catch was limited by only having 4 people fishing at any given time.
8. Next, we wasted valuable time in 2 ways, 1st we didn't depart the boat dock until 7:30am and 2nd we went on a wild goose chase scouting a waypoint for the Captains “Boss” on the way down that he never intended to fish because it was too deep, this was over an hour of time we could have been fishing.
My points are we could have fished more rods earlier and limited on Halibut sooner, moved on to Rockfish sooner and limited and had time to target cod and other species to Maximize our Fishing Charter had it not been for the limitations within the control of Crazy Rays Charters.
The way I see it is I got 2/3 of a Charter for 2/3 of the Time, so I should pay 44.4%.

First time in Alaska, went out with Crazy Rays… We had Schmitty as out Captain, and Cody as our deckhand… We had an awesome day, got our limit of halibut, got our limit of rockfish, and absolutely slayed the Pacific Cod… The laughter was all day… Couldn’t of asked for a better day… I will definitely be using Crazy Ray’s again if I’m in these neck of the woods…

Crew was arrogant and overly confident. Captain put the boat on small halibut “chickens”. 13 on the boat meant too many packed in the cabin for 2+ hours transit time and multiple crossed lines. Once we got back to our place…the fish processing/filleting finished cuts were awful. And to add salt to a bad day…once we got home, we were shorted 1 halibut in our bag.
Overall…a 2 star experience is generous.
Would not recommend this charter service.
