Grateful for the items they have when you really need something but at least one of the people who work there are pretty unfriendly.

we were so excited to head to Alaska....we booked our stay at the Inn at Whittier some time in February, 1st reservation for September 15; we then booked another night, September 16 about a week later which both were confirmed and paid for..sometime in July the Inn TEXTED me to say they had to cancel our reservations due to pipe leak. Since we have no cell service where we live in VT, I saw the text 2 days after it came in, NO email, just a TEXT. The text read that if we booked via. 3rd party, we had to cancel it there before we could get our refund. OK, no problem, found another place to stay and then cancelled via Hotels.com. We only received ONE refund not Two. For 3 months I kept checking my CC statements for that refund, it never came. I continued to call them about 4 times, no answer and NO RETURN call. We figured once we got to Whittier, we would go to the Inn....it was closed and boarded up. Reached out to Hotels.com and provided what had happened, copies of CC statements, etc.. They contacted the Inn and were told that they were not going to refund the 2nd reservation, so HOTELS.COM DID!!! This Inn should be ashamed and embarrassed by their response and business practices...I have reviewed them several times in different review groups. We do hope that no one else went through this.. BAD FORM!!!

Larry was an awesome help! Everything you need is in here, plus drinks! Great to have right along the water.

I was on a trip with my family, 7 of us. Some of us were just looking around and others needed stuff for our trip. After 2 minutes of looking around we were rudely yelled at to get the f out. One of the things we needed were radios and those were significantly marked up in price (compared to my home state of Georgia at least)

Poor communication, made a reservation months ago for a trip in two weeks, they just now sent a text saying they cannot accommodate me, evidently a pipe burst in early MAY and just now I am notified, had to scramble for lodging and had to pay $$$$$ since it's short notice.

Cute little inn. Whittier is a really tiny place so not a lot to do here (especially in shoulder season). They have a decent restaurant (again nothing special but better than expected) and a fun bar with live music. The bar/ tavern is probably the only place open late (in late season) so by the end of the night, i was drinking with transient workers, fishermen and boat captains. And live music. Cheap, strong and okay cocktails.

Best meal I had in Alaska! Halibut fish and chips...so fresh it just melted in my mouth at this quaint place. Its not fancy and a little quirky but that fits this sleepy little fishing village.

Had the salmon and clam chowder (DELICIOUS) and the sautéed shrimp dinner, both were wonderful. Our server was also friendly and quick! Would absolutely dine here again.

Stopped in even though Yelp didn't have this come up when searching for restaurants in Whittier. The Inn itself is charming inside. The food service was okay, not as prompt as you'd hope for an expensive lunch. We had the spinach salmon dip appetizer. Small amount of small bits of salmon in a fairly small container of dip, especially for the amount of chips accompanying said dip. I ordered the halibut fish and chips which I believe was $30 for the plate with 3 pieces. It was decent tasting. The breading on the fish needed some seasoning. Fish was good quality. Fries were very bland.

I thought it was a nice place. WRONG. If you order the salmon you will regret it. I got sick to my stomach about two hours after consuming their salmon filet. Don't trust this place to do a filet. Get the fish fry or live to pay the price.

Great service. Good solid fresh food. We came in off season so not many restaurants open. But good choice even when there are other options. Chowder was exceptional. Thin base, full of clams, fish, and veggies.
