About Montana Creek Campground
Montana Creek Campground is a well-maintained, privately owned campground located just off the Parks Highway, near the Montana Creek State Recreation Area. It offers a mix of sites, including back-in and pull-through options suitable for larger rigs, like 36’ and 40’ fifth-wheels. Some sites feature 30 or 50 AMP electric hookups, but there are limited options for water and waste disposal. The campground is quiet, especially towards the end of the season, and is surrounded by beautiful scenery, including a creek with trout and salmon. The office staff is friendly and helpful, providing maps and information about available sites. Facilities include clean port-a-johns and picnic tables, while guests can enjoy fire pits and stand-up grills. However, some sites, especially those with electric service, are closely spaced and near the road, which can lead to noise. The more secluded sites towards the back offer greater privacy and tranquility. Access to local amenities is convenient, with a grocery store nearby and the charming town of Talkeetna just a short drive away. While the campground layout is generally good, larger trailers may face challenges with narrow roads and tight corners due to overgrown shrubbery. Overall, Montana Creek Campground is a great spot for camping, relaxing, and enjoying outdoor activities like fishing.

Great office staff, nice pull through for our 36’ fifth-wheel. Some sites have Electric is 50 amp hook up. Communal Water fill up shed for fresh water fill up. You must request sites with septic hook up or electric and pay more, understandably. Porti-potty available.

Large spacious campsites. Very nice campground right next to the creek. They even have little benches down by the creek.

Nice clean quiet campground. Perfect location for day trips to Anchorage and Whittier.
