Banff as a whole is beautiful, but also a tourist trap. I noticed in a lot of stores I went into people in front of me in line would get to the cash register and tell the cashier that they were 'local'. The cashier would then proceed to ask them for 'proof' (I assume an ID of some kind with a local address on it), and then would give them a 'discount'. Most places the discount was 10%. Regardless, it means they are charging 'tourists' more money for regular items than they do the locals. It just came off as very 'scammy' to me. It was expensive as well.Banff is absolutely beautiful. But be prepared to spend money; and to pay double the price for almost everything (except maybe food).

It just came off as very 'scammy' to me. It was expensive as well. I was looking for a hat/toque and mitts. The CHEAPEST toque (& mittens, separately) I could find was $50! I thought maybe it was just in my head until I came home, and I found the exact same toque for $19.99.Banff is absolutely beautiful. Super friendly staff in all the stores. Could use some better lighting in the main hallways.

Nice place and the currency exchange here is quick and easy. I do believe it's a good exchange rate and I'd suggest keeping cash on hand for the Lake Louise Tea Houses if you're going there, and also you'll get a better exchange rate than paying with your credit card most shops and restaurants. You can also hop the bus for $2 and I'm not sure they take credit but I'd think not.

Great place in Banff! I don’t spend much time at this part but there are lots of things to check out!
