I trusted this shop 100% when Fred was the owner.
Even knowing ownership had changed I thought I'd give them a shot still as I had always loved total, and it being local made it much easier!
Took my caravan in the middle of July to have my AC system checked for leaks and recharged
Amazing job to start, they said they didn't find a leak and I was all charged, PERFECT, I thought, but I was wrong.
Just over a week goes by and my ac completely dies while on a twelve hour drive with 4 kids in 30° weather.
I call, they get me in for the next day
Yes, I gave them the chance to fix it after already paying for them to check for leaks and recharge. They got me in the next day, checked for leaks (and yet again found none) and recharged the ac with dye in it this time. I was told I wouldn't be charged for the services and to call when the freeon was gone again.
Not even a week later, it's gone and going back in to find the leak and get fixed PROPERLY this time.
Never was I given a quote on this and was expecting around $300 based on my guess (yes, hindsight, I should have asked.)
Issues start piling up the minute it goes back. There is either no communication or improper communication from that point on. Told a part needs to be ordered, that it'll be in by 8-830am the next day and they will have my vehicle back to me ASAP as I've already missed work due to this.
They keep it one night, which I agreed too.
Come the next morning I get a call at 11 saying they just got parts and would be starting it soon.
I call again around 230 and when I'm told it's already at over $500, I'm obviously upset because it was never mentioned before. (Quick bravo for them dropping it down to under $200 because they never quoted me to begin with).
I ask when it'll be done and they say by the end of the day, perfect, I work that night and need it ASAP.
4:45pm comes around and I haven't gotten a call to come get it when they close at 5. At 4:58pm I call and inquire what's going on and they TELL me, not ask me, that my van will be staying another night.
Yes, I was upset, I'm a single mom with 3 kids and a job that I desperately need to get to.
Receptionist didn't want to deal with my complaints over their miscommunication and lack of communication so she puts me on hold, transfers me to the owner, and things got great after that.
Nate was absolutely unprofessional and laughed at the fact that I needed my vehicle and that it was unfair that they never handled the communication properly. Had I not called at 4:58, they would have kept my van without a word to me about it after promising to have it done by the end of the day.
Nate was extremely condescending and instead of there being any compassion, I was told to "just come pick up my vehicle and never come back because they obviously "failed me".
Yes, yes you did faily me. For a month I gave you 3 tries to fix a simple issue and I was given the run around.
I gave you guys 2 changes the fix the mistake and get my ac running again.
When I came to pick it up the next day, I apologized for being upset the night before, and was met with hostility from Nate which included being told he would NOT honor the warranty on my vehicle, and I should have seen this as foreshadowing.
Here we sit SIX days since I got my vehicle back and the AC is completely leaked out again and I'm out $500 to shoddy workmanship, zero customer satisfaction, and a fear to even attempt to call back for them to fix their mistake YET AGAIN.

I’m not looking to bash local businesses but they sent me a review request(after a terrible experience)so I’ll be honest. My son went in less than a year ago and had his spark plug wires replaced. 8 months later same issue. They wouldn’t warranty the work. They said he must have been pulling on them, to which I disagreed because it made no sense. Then they admitted likely cheap wires to begin with. I asked to be compensated for the wires and agreed to pay for labour. They wouldn’t accommodate at all. Cost is another $400 for the exact same repairs we just had completed. I was extremely disappointed in the customer service. I am always an advocate for supporting local, however, in good faith I can’t recommend them after this. They could have keep a loyal customer by simply honouring their warrant on $150 wires. If you can afford to drive into Lethbridge you should. I miss the original owner, he did a better job of taking care of his loyal customers.

If I could give a negative 20 review I would. Stay far away from this shop. They seemed great till everything went wrong They do not stand behind there work. We gave them 4 tries to make this right. Learn from our mistake. We took our 67 baracuda in for a wheel alignment and to try to set the timing better. Long story short car died there and after they took half our engine apart. Told us it needs a full rebuild. This is not our shop we normally deal with but figured we'd give them a shot since they had everything apart and bill was already over $3000. First time they call and say car is done. I go pick it up and I notice 2 big paint chips in the paint which I point out and when they start it. It clearly has an exhaust manifold leak. So I leave it there. Second time they call its done. I go pick it up and drive it home. Park in driveway to get garage door opener and come right back out and the car won't start. Takes me over 10 minutes to get it fired up again. Back out of driveway and theres puddles of oil on driveway. Park it in garage and wait for my husband to get home. He looks under car and sees they smeared what looked like gasket maker all around oil pan to try to stop it from leaking. Looked like a kid in shop class worked on the car. Also puffing clouds of white smoke out of exhaust when he starts it. Transmission dip stick tube is now also leaking. They must have bumped it taking engine in or out. So he calls them and we now bring it back again for third time. He tells them everything he's not happy with. They say we'll fix it. So they clean all the goop off oil pan put a new gasket in and it's still leaking. They change transmission pan gasket also which my husband told them it was leaking from the tube. Than they call and say car is done again but still leaking and now we have to buy new oil pan and timing chain cover or they can't fix it. And we have to pay for transmission pan gasket replace but it's still leaking. So I phoned and was angry at this point. Nate the owner wasnt there so they put me through to the mechanic that's been working on the car. I pick up car and drive it home and it dies every time I slow down. I phone and the mechanic says it must be doing that because its colder out now than when he drove it earlier. It must be cooling down to fast... The next day my husband talks to Nate and all he said is. Tell your wife not to phone here again. So my husband agrees to order the parts and when they come in. We bring car back for the fourth time now.... He tells them again the transmission is leaking from dipstick tube and take your time and make sure it's fixed right this time.Test it and drive it make sure it's good. So they call again car is done but can't do anything with transmission tube. Take it to transmission shop. So my husband tries to drive it home and its even worse than before. He cant get it to stay running long enough to even get it into our garage. And pushes it the rest of the way. Now he refuses to go back there because they obviously don't know what there doing. So we're out over $9000 with there bill and the parts we had to buy and the car runs worse than ever and still have to fix paint chips and transmission. FYI any reviews more than a year ago are when Fred still owned this shop. We never had a problem with him. It's a new owner as of a year ago. It's now more than 4 months later that my husband phoned and left a message for owner to phone him back with no response. Zero customer service. Have a car sitting in our garage that is not driveable at this point with no resolution on how to resolve this even though it has a year warranty. As soon as you put it in gear it dies. Has valve train noise and smokes like crazy. He also asked for old oil pan and timing chain cover back and they never gave them back to us. Had someone check initial timing and it was over 45 which is insane. Not sure how the car even ran in the first place....

I have taken my vehicles to this shop for about 10 years now and have always had a good experience, with both the old and new owner. They are extremely helpful starting from the first phone call. They are willing to work with your schedule and make sure the job is done on time. I would definitely recommend this shop!

Thank you to Nate and the rest of the team at Total Automotive. Knowing that I am not being upsold for products or labor, and knowing that the work is being done right is such a relief that words cannot properly express.I've been going here for over a year, the first time being when my husband was unexpectedly in hospital 2 hours away. Both of our vehicles were in major need of repair after calling Total Automotive. Nate and the amazing people out there, were able to get our vehicles in the next day and they were able to get my truck back before the end of the business day.I had been told by other shops that my steering box was leaking, when in fact it was just a hose. So the repair was substantially less than what I was expecting, which was really nice during the stressful time.If you want an honest shop with knowledgeable and amazing people and mechanics, this is the place for you. Knowing that I'm not being nickeled and dimed and that the work is being done correctly is something that I am so happy that I've been able to find.
