“Manager” Chelsea was less than helpful for my exchange. Refused to accept my items with tags and was not polite or helpful. Very unlike any AE experience I’ve ever had and reflected poorly on the brand. I will be calling customer service for assistance with my exchange. For the same item! That was tagged and size wrong! (AE issue, not my issue) Chelsea did not even allow me to explain my exchange and just told me that Southgate’s policies are different than the other stores regarding exchanges and returns. She then told us to “have a nice day” 3 times in a condescending manner. Wow. Terrible experience. Looks like, from other reviews, this is the norm for this location.

The staff are nice but just have to say this is the most run down AE I’ve ever been to. Change rooms need serious cleaning and painting.

Worst customer service
I asked to match price with online American eagle website and the cashier called me scammer for that. So disappointed in customer service and offended.
It was on sept 19,2024 at around 1700hrs.

I went to Southgate American eagle to return jeans and before going there I called in store and told them that i tried the jeans and theirs no tag the on the phone said ok and when I went there they said you can’t return it as it’s our new policy that you can’t return anything without tag. But they should told me about their new policy on the phone. After long discussion i came back with disappointment and looked for the tag. I found the tag then I called the store again and they said it needs to be attached with the jeans. Which literally makes no sense to me.
And the girl at cash and another working on floor was very rude. They really need to work on their communication skills
It was very disappointing experience for me. I not going thier again.

Returned some stuff and I just checked my receipt, she returned me less than for what I actual bought it for. Now I have to go back tomorrow and waste my time, so amazing

An associate asked if I needed help. I asked where the jeans are with tall legs. She said "There everywhere you just have to look but better to go online as they'll have them there" not a good first experience at this store. I heard 1 good thing which was jeans for tall women.... but I guess the female associate didn't want to help. Don't ask customers for help if you don't want to help....

The cashier girl who serve me just now is so rude she doesn’t have any customer service skill she got angry when we asked 10percent discount. Even when she calculated our bill she did mistake and when we asked this is wrong calculation then she’s showing us attitude and said wait give me one second. I think she should know how to deal with customers . Am mentioning Her id is 94353019518022 . Please I request the manger to train her properly and tell her that don’t show her attitude towards the customer…

I am a very recent evacuee from the fires in the nwt. Whenever I visit Edmonton I visit an American Eagle. I visited the store in southgate mall yesterday , August 25/23. Everyone in the store was extremely helpful and went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of even though it was so busy.Christine and her coworkers were stellar!

During my last purchase there they couldn't locate my cell number in their system. The second time she even read it back to me. It was correct but she said there's no listing. Then how come I get and still do get all their sales/specials announcements on the number?!? ?
