August 2024 by Ayla Bezooyen
Where do I start. Purchasing our home on Kulay Way SW has been one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made in my life. The service has been awful and the communication even worse. When we bought our home in August 2023 we were told landscaping would be completed that September. Surprise it was not. We followed up several times in the spring and did not end up talking to anyone until early June. Their “lot grading” department failed to inform the landscaping company that we pass our rough grade after more back and forth and escalating the issue we were told landscaping - everything including dirt, sod, trees and rock would be completed on July 17. July 17 came and went and all we saw was dirt. After multiple follow ups again we were told we needed to wait for final grade approval. I informed Cantiro because we were told everything would be completed on July 17th we planned to host our child’s birthday party in our back yard and booked entertainment so it needed to be completed before the end of August. On July 29th I inquired again and was told we would have landscaping completed the week of August 12 and was promised that it would be completed before August 24. Today the landscaper kindly informed us that our final grade failed and we need to wait 2+ weeks for the city to reinspect. Why were we not informed of this when we spoke last? I’m now stuck between waiting to see if they can at least lay the sod in my backyard or having to postpone our child’s birthday or pay to move everything to an alternative location. On top of this entire headache we have warranty issues that still have not been addressed since before we moved in and have had to follow up with Cantiro again to book our warranty appointments. The complete lack of care, attention and service has been beyond upsetting and frustrating. Buyer beware!

Buyer beware. One of the most frustrating companies to deal with. If you purchase or build a home in a Cantiro neighborhood expect it to be a fight to get your deposits back. There are major inconsistencies when it comes to their architectural guidelines and the rules they actually follow. Maintaining public neighborhood gardens and lawn is also low on their priority list. Several calls and complaints constantly need to be made to get the landscapers out.
My experience with building in Rivers Gate has been so frustrating because of Cantiro. I have come close to putting the for sale sign up numerous times. It’s a shame they have ruined this experience for so many.

Disappointing Experience with Poor Quality and Service
I am deeply disappointed with the experience I've had with Cantiro Homes after moving into my new home on Kulay Way SW, Edmonton. The house was completed in November 2022, and within three months of moving in, I noticed significant cracks in the concrete floors. Despite their initial promise to address this issue during the 11-month warranty inspection in October 2023, they failed to take any action.
Their excuse was that repairs couldn't be done during the winter. It is now summer, and they still haven't come to check or fix the problem they created. This neglect is unacceptable and shows a lack of accountability and customer care.
While their house designs are good, Cantiro consistently uses cheap materials in all their houses, leading to issues like the one I'm facing. They seem to have a cunning strategy to delay addressing issues until your warranty expires, making it easy for them to decline repair requests.
I've attached pictures of the concrete cracks in my house. I invite anyone considering Cantiro to visit Kulay Way SW and see firsthand how their poor quality concrete has affected many homes in the area. Save yourself the frustration and choose a builder who stands by their work and values their customers.

Our experience with purchasing purpose-built townhome units with Cantiro Homes has been excellent. Some issues were conducted during the building process that were dealt with immediately and a plan provided in order to resolve the issue. Most of the discrepancies during the PDI were minimal and resolved before occupancy. My dealings with them directly or indirectly were professional. Our purchase was conducted just prior to the pandemic so I feel that Cantiro navigated quite well through it in coordination with the purchasers in order to provide excellent service and adhere to the previous arrangement. This builder is reputable and I would definitely purchase from them again.

For months, I have received multiple phone calls daily to my personal cell phone from various businesses (ie. Trail Appliances) and other contractors, looking for someone named Sean involved in construction Cantiro Homes-- supposedly my phone number is one digit off from his.Despite contacting Cantiro AND Sean directly, asking that they please update their contacts with their correct phone number, I continue to get inundated with these calls. Sean's response to my request was that "I don't hand out the number as it comes with the trades paperwork." This is unacceptable. I have blocked these numbers but they continue to fill my voicemail, so at this point I am at a loss of what else I can do to make these calls stop.Edit: I CONTINUE to receive these calls

My fiancé and I bought a home with Cantiro Homes with the help of Leah Turner. She is the most wonderful salesperson we’ve ever dealt with. She never failed to answer any of our questions or deal with any of our concerns. She is so knowledgeable and gives the best advice, especially for those who are just starting out. We are so grateful to have come across the Rosenthal show home, even though she sold to us in Castlebrook. She is the absolute best and we would recommend her to everyone we know!

Unable to properly maintain their new triplexes that they built in woodbend. Their workers have left garbage all over the community. Unprofessional company.

When Cantiro was building a duplex next to my house, their foundation crew damaged our property and that was back in April, 2021. I first contacted Keegan Lee in the Rosenthal show home and long story short, he said the damage will be fixed. I found out last week that Keegan is no longer with Cantiro, I contacted Stacy Herrington and she said she will contact their service team for help. Another week had gone by and I don't hear anything from them. I did not build my house with them, but they damaged my property and it seems very hard to hold them accountable. Judging from my experience dealing with them, it has not been great. Today is August 23, 2021, it has been 4 months since this had happened and I cannot get the issued rectify. Who do I need to speak to, to get this problem solved?

Tried booking a viewing at your show home today in spruce grove and first of all my credit card was charged for a viewing when it said specifically at the viewing page it was for verification purposes only? Then the page kept telling me my CC was for the wrong address which again has never happened to me before. Which I thought okay… maybe a computer glitch but then tried calling and received no answer just sent to generic voicemail. Not impressed. Please contact me so you can reimburse the money you took from my account.Follow up- this issue was addressed immediately and I am very happy with how it was dealt with. Thank you for being extremely punctual and professional in addressing this.

New home construction in The Hills at Charlesworth communityThe Best home builder in Edmonton, Almost.- It took us exactly 2 years from the day we walked into the show home to signing our purchase agreement.- Our sales guy CP and us built a solid relationship through the course of our home building process- The communication at times was a challenging but I always looked at a wider picture.- Although I trust the builder would do the right thing and they did, but at no point before and during the construction phase I relied entirely on Cantiro to automatically figure out the discrepancies or errors on contract related to products and materials used in building my house.- Appliances was a major cause of dissatisfaction but the issues were resolved after I pointed out the errors with what's on paper versus what was installed.- 2 weeks into our possession a small leak caused water damage to our main floor ceiling due to plumbing error in the shower head valve in the standing shower. Although, for a moment it shook our trust in the build quality of our house but the follow up by Cantiro by taking responsibility and ensuring the repair is done to the highest standards with minimal discomfort to us was nothing but commendable. The repair eventually went smoothly and in timely fashion and had minimal impact on us in the end.Had our first month warranty follow up today and Evan has been a great person to interact with and very professional one at that too. Finally, my advise to future Cantiro-ens would be to take your time and when i say time, may be weeks, months or even year before signing the purchase agreement (if possible). When I started looking for a builder the best advise someone gave me was : "Houses are built on paper not air" you will only get what you negotiated and put on paper, not necessarily that was brought up during the conversation. Read every page multiple times to make sure that is exactly what you want.Cantiro is an excellent builder when it comes to making changes if an error is brought up but you have to do equal handwork in making sure everything is in order and covered before and after signing the purchase agreement.Overall, really happy with my decision to go with Cantiro 2 months into our possession- I am sure there are other builders who are equally more or less awesome but so far as per my experience i wouldn't want anyone but Cantiro as my home builder in future.Service: New construction services
