November 2024 by J & T’s Easy Hacks
Nov 2, 2024- around 8pm- West Edmonton Location.
It was my daughter’s 13th bday and it was her first time shopping at Garage and would be the last.
First issue- I recently had Knee surgery and I had to sit on one of the benches there Nowhere does it say not allowed to sit. 2 sales associates saw me and smiled. After a fee minutes, I was asked by a cashier to not sit there, which I was ok with. Told her I just needed to sit for a bit as my knee was hurting so she made me go to the fitting room instead. I respectfully obliged. The fitting room ladies were very helpful.
As we were paying the counter, I happily mentioned to the friendly cashier if there was anything like discounts or points for bday celebrants. She asked the Manager on duty and I can hear the manager telling her, “No, we can’t do that, how can we prove it’s her bday?”
So I nicely told the cashier that I have a picture of her passport ID with me to prove it was indeed her bday. So the very nice and friendly cashier said my daughter can sign-up and create an account.
The manager suddenly came and asked what was going on, the cashier explained to her that she had an ID to prove her bday, she asked to see it again, when we said she was only 13 today, she rudely said, “it’s only for 14 yrs old! And some other things I can’t remember due to how rude she was saying them.
We weren’t trying to scam your store. We live 4 hours away from Edmonton. I just thought of asking if there was anything for bday celebrants as some stores offer something; and my daughter was excited to be shopping with me for the first time at your store.
The manager was rude. She needs more training on customer service. She could have nicely explained about the policies from the beginning instead of saying to her staff, “how can we prove it’s her bday?” She could have explained nicely about policies which we would have understood. We could afford the top full price. The rudeness was uncalled for.

Incredible staff, all of them are so sweet and kind! They genuinely looked happy doing their jobs and helping out customers. It is that enthusiasm and customer service that bring people back! I hope you are treating them well <3

Came this place yesterday , the first lady helped us was nice and she helped us even create an account then i believe there was this teenager girl i assume donot know the name but with an ungrateful attitude , if u donot wanna work please stay home or show some good vibrant character at work which u guys technically get paid for . I work same job behind a till and know what it means to get a bad review . No thankyous no smiles low uninterested , unenthusiastic voice, which teenagers usually have creating this notion as if they world is for granted and they r special gods from jupiter ,go learn how to behave when u get paid to behave . Rest was nice.

Staff are always super nice, but with the way they are trained they absolutely harass you which is annoying. Store is always clean and tidy.

Tried to buy a shirt. The first girl at the till was very very nice. My card kept on saying card declined. another girl with purple hair came and stepped in, and she was being very rude telling me to wipe my card off , told me to give her my card so she could try, after she tried told me a few more tries and she can’t help me. Then after I said don’t worry abt it, she starts being semi nice and asking if I want her to save it at the back so I can call my bank or go to atm. Like absolutely not spending my money there. Poor experience with staff. do not recommend shopping there.

Love dynamite and garage. Worked there years ago, but not loving that they are still pushing their employees to constantly be on the customers tail. The greeting was nice, but I had like 3 girls approach me in the span of 4 minutes. That’s a little much. Head office, when are you going to learn that customers don’t always want be talked to. Leave the girls alone and ease up on them. As long as someone greets them and ask them if they need help if they are looking for something then it’s fine. You’re making them go overkill. Give them a break.

Buckle up. This is a long review. This store desperately needs to train staff on the difference between providing good customer service and very obvious targeted theft deterrence (bordering on harassment). There was a staff member who constantly left her station in the change room to ask what I’m looking for and if I need help. By the 6th time in 15-20 mins, it’s getting annoying. To the point where I’m in line at checkout, and she’s following me asking for the 6th time if I need help finding anything… how ridiculous… no thank you! I’m at the checkout about to pay. None of the other customers were approached or followed like this (customers with big bags, travelling in groups, younger demographics, looking at high resale items). I’m taking my time, alone, with a small purse, folding everything I pick up nicely, putting things back, and looking for sizes.I don’t know if theft is a problem at this location (the cashier, Brynn L. told me it’s not) but I almost dropped my $150 in merchandise to shop elsewhere, or shop online. Luckily, the experience was helped by Brynn L. who was very patient, sweet, and helpful. She kindly scored me a discount on the total and remembered to give me a gift receipt, even though she could see I was frustrated and ready to leave the store (initially I declined the discount in order to leave immediately because I felt uncomfortable). If I had been given space to look around after being greeted once, I would be giving this location 4.5-5 stars. The visual merchandising is gorgeous and the store is so clean. It looks like I’m not the only reviewer who has experienced excessive loss prevention efforts from staff, either.I don’t blame the girl who kept checking on me either, because this is obviously a training issue (I’ve worked in retail before— I understand). If I’m going shopping in person, I like to be able to browse and take my time, and feel the material, look at the fabric content, and enjoy looking through the entire store. It’s sufficient to greet me once, let me know where they are if I have any questions, and follow up once (max). Leaving the change room many times (where loss prevention matters most) to follow around one person who has indicated many times they don’t need assistance is not a good strategy.

I honestly never write reviews buttt,I came into the store to pick up some pants and there was a super sweet girl named Sarah. the girl honestly deserves a raise. best service i’ve gotten at Garage in a long time. She was super helpful and friendly.when i was trying on pants she made sure i had multiple choices and colours. Honestly the only reason why i spent even more money there and i’m grateful!!

The store is well organized, and the staff go above and beyond to help. The only down side, they run out of sizes fast. But they will order in the store and have it sent right to your house.I will definitely keep coming back here!

This used to be one of my favorite stores to shop at, No I find it is barely got anything in it, the people working there don't seem to want to help you out with anything. The whole atmosphere has changed. Will probably be my last visit

Cloths this season are beautiful and vibrant. The customer service both in Grande Praire and West Edmonton was great.
