The appointment times mean absolutely nothing. Had an appointment at 11:30, went for lunch, came back through the parking lot at 12:30 and my car didn’t move. Finally came back at 2:00 because I still hadn’t heard anything, was told it would be up to another hour. 3 1/2 hour appointment when I was quoted UP TO two hours, and all because they didn’t even touch the car for the first hour of my time slot. I was told maybe they got slammed, they didn’t get lunch. All staffing issues that have nothing to do with the customer. They shouldn’t get busy and not touch the vehicle for an hour when I had an appointment. Maybe don’t quote max two hours during busy season when you don’t have the staff to deliver.

On my vehicle, the suspension hasn't been replaced in 11 years and a mechanic quoted me near 3 grand for the job. So, I purchased the parts myself and did the job with a buddy. After doing a suspension job, it's a good idea to get an alignment. The ball joints, CV axles, and struts were so shot that the tread on my two front tires was pretty uneven and was bald on the inside, which means there's some negative camber going on.
So I needed new tires too. I was hoping that Kal Tire would get the new tires on there and align the car. Well, after putting on the tires, they got back to me saying they couldn't align it because my suspension was allegedly really messed up. The lady said, "I don't know who did that new work on your car, but they did a poor job." What's funny is that only two things were wrong: one of my ball joints had "play" and they both needed grease nipples. The first thing astounds me, all one has to do is tighten the pinch bolt down. That's literally the only way it could wiggle. I guess at Kal Tire they have no idea how to handle a socket wrench or an impact gun on any nuts other than lug nuts. The second thing would require two exceptionally tiny grease nipples (picture showing just how tiny they are) that attach to the ball joint so you can pump lube into it periodically. I hadn't gotten around to putting those in yet becuase the new ball joint is already greased. That absolutely should not get in the way of doing a wheel alignment. Just unreal.
And guess what happened? I got my wheels aligned at an actual mechanic shop with no problems. I even told them what Kal Tire said, and they looked into it for me with zero snags. I guess I'll recheck the torque on all the new suspension bolts, just to be sure. . .
They've also tried telling my dad that he shouldn't replace only one tire becuase the uneven tread will damage the transmission. Wrong. It could damage the DRIVETRAIN actually, and only if the tread is very different from the new tire and you drove it like that for 10 years. The biggest issue from really uneven tread is worse driving conditions when making turns, uneven suspension etc etc.. You might even need a wheel alignment. But then again, they won't do it for you at Kal Tire when the tread is bad and uneven like that.
On top of all of these stories, they didn't even have Nokian or Nordman all-weather tires for my tire size. I've gotten those tires from them since I bought the car. Don't come here if you want a wheel alignment done. I'm never coming back to Kal Tire for service ever again. Maybe it's just this location, but they literally have no idea what they're talking about here.

I went to get my Toyota's tires balanced, and they quoted me $149 just to balance four tires. When I asked why it was so expensive, the person at the front desk explained that they had to remove the tires, balance them, and remount them—apparently a lot of work. I ended up going to a local garage instead, where the whole job took 15 minutes and cost me just $20. They even gave me a warranty for the entire winter at no extra charge. I guess the "brand name" and so-called premium service really do come with a hefty price tag, haha.?

I got an inspection done at my dealership which recommended I replace my calipers. I decided to get a second opinion and went to KalTire to get my brakes inspected. They recommended a brake service only since brake parts were bone dry and needed lubrication. Dion saved me $100s of dollars!!!

Today I went into the Albany Kal Tire location in Edmonton looking for a set of winter tires and rims for my new vehicle. I had already priced out a set of rims and Nokian studded tires online. When I walked in, I was greeted by an older male working at the front desk. I asked if now would be a better time to buy winter tires vs in a few weeks when winter hits. He said “well you could buy them anytime….” I asked if they would sell out in the future and he said “well the sales are on now” He seemed incredibly indifferent. It felt like I was inconveniencing him. He asked me what my tire size was. I did not have it written down and I am not very familiar with tire sizes. All I knew is after speaking to the salesman that sold me my vehicle, I was told to get a minus size of 16 or 17 inch rims for winter. I told the Kal Tire employee that I was looking for 16 inch Rims for my 2024 Corolla Hybrid. He responded with “well
There are MANY different tire sizes depending on trim level!” I asked if he was able to look up my tire size for me. Something which should’ve been offered right off the bat. He looked in his book and showed that my 2024 Corolla Hybrid SE wasn’t in the book, it only went up to 2023. However, the 2023 SE showed only 18 inch rims. He told me that I am not able to purchase 16 inch rims for my vehicle. I explained to him that it was an option while using the search feature on the Kal Tire website. I had already priced out a set of rims and tires. He told me I would have to go to Toyota to confirm whether I would be able to put that size of wheel on my vehicle.
I wouldn’t have minded contacting Toyota to confirm this myself. However, his behaviour was unbelievably condescending and unprofessional. Kal Tire has lost me as a customer. Not because I wasn’t offered the tire size I was curious about, but because I was treated like an inconvenience.

I don't often write reviews, but when I do, its normally either because of a fantastic experience or a terrible one.
Unfortunately in this case, It was the latter.
I was on the hunt for a new set of tires and decided to drop by the Kal Tire after speaking to a Rep over the phone instructing me I should head in to order/price match if need be.
I arrived to an empty store and waited for 5 minutes at the cashier before the Rep that was sitting on the couch watching TV decided to get up and help me. This wasn't a good start but at least he said sorry.
Once being served I was requested the tire size and what type of tire I was interested in, I responded with the exact tire manufacturer/model and size I was looking for.
The Rep responded he'd give me a quote for two different tires (One being the model I requested and another brand) which, considering I asked for a specific tire, I found it a bit unnecessary.
After I received the quote and spiel about warranties, alignments etc I explained that I had just received a quote from Costco whom had a better price on the tires currently and whether they would price match Costco. The reps attitude change dramatically and he replied that I'd need to go get a print out quote otherwise he wouldn't even consider it.
I explained that I could show him the quote I was given on my phone (as it was an online purchase) to which he replied he "wouldn't even look at it unless it was on *Paaaaaaaapeeeeeeeeer*, No paper, no price match".
I left immediately and he returned to sitting on the couch watching TV.
His attitude and inflexibility to even consider price matching lost his store a sale and future regular customer, which is a shame as I have always had a great experience at other Kal tires. I will now be purchasing the tires from another company (Costco probably) and will not be bringing my vehicle to this Kal Tire for any future services.

On August 16 I had an oil change done on my 2020 Ford Edge. On a later trip downtown, we had a gassy smell in the vehicle when we stopped at a traffic light. The engine seemed noisier than normal. Later when we stopped I had a a look for something obvious under the hood and discovered the Oil fill pipe was open with the cap sitting beside it. It had not been put back in place! I called the store and and advised a guy named George who was going to find the tech and discipline. I now have oil on the engine cover and underside of the hood splashed with oil! Oil level is ok, but questioning in my mind what else may have been done wrong? Correct oil weight? . Don’t know if I’ll trust another Service at this store! Not happy about this situation and no call back from the store manager at this point!

Went in to get new tires and alignment as well as some fluid flushes. Was an all day service but was a very comfortable chair to sit in.
