I'm been coming to this location for the last 4 years, either to wash my dog or get his food. The staff have always been helpful and knowledgeable.
A couple of nice perks they have is after a certain number of food purchases. The 10th bag is free depending on brand as well as after I think the 10th dog wash, the next is free. I only give it 4 stars just because the price does keep increasing for the wash. Other than that, it's been great

What a new rude staff member they have there working now. I have been shopping in that store for many years. He is awful customer service. I will never shop there again. If I see him.

This Petvalu used to be one of my favourite locations, but it's gone down hill, FAST.
The amount of managers that this location goes through is hysterical, 3 in the past 6 months? Why so many?
Most of the original staff that gave wonderful customer service have left, the few originals that are still there are still great, but this new manager didn't acknowledge my existence at all when I was stood at the till ready to go and she was on the phone, no smile, no "let me get someone to help you", she simply said to the other associate "can you" and went back to her phone call with not even so much as a greeting. It looks like she hates her life working there? Why would you want someone like that for the face of the store? Clearly she lacks in customer service, I will continue to spend my money at another location, where I am seen, and acknowledged. This location needs to get stable with a manager who actually enjoys their job. Why hasn't one of the senior staff who actually has customer service skills been put in the position yet? Absolutely crazy how fast this store has gone down to the bottom of the barrel as the store used to also look absolutely beautiful the product on the shelves was always displaced nicely and now it just looks terrible...

I’m only giving four stars because the staff here are amazing. Except for the new management. First manager they hired was rude, didn’t know anything about pets, hid away in the back and wouldn’t even acknowledge the customers. That one left and they just re hired her but now she has a different face and name. Not sure why they keep hiring these awful managers who don’t care to even be there and don’t care about their customers. The regular staff are amazing and like family! It’s unfortunate they continue to hire deadbeats for managers…why not one of the staff that have been there for over 9 years??? They broke up an awesome team of staff by hiring these ‘managers’. Pet valu corporate please do better by your staff and your customers!!

I thought I wrote one already, but don’t see it.
I was just in the tamarack (17th street) store and have just moved to this area a few months ago and have been to this store quite a few times. I typically go to Homes Alive, but with the new area and wanting to shop in a local store closer to home, I gave them a try.
I have a few animals and don’t buy a hard to find/get food but it’s been 3-4 times now where I’ve gone in and they didn’t have the food I typically get (Acana Senior). I asked the staff today about the lack of availability of this food in their store and was told that they ‘sell out’ all the time of this food. I asked if they were taking this into account and considering ordering more (supply and demand) and was told no. I don’t understand if your explanation for not having it a lot is due to selling out that you would not adjust for demand.
Well, I guess I’ll be driving a little longer to Homes Alive as they have always had my brand in and I don’t have to look at going into their store and finding it sold out or having to order it (which seems silly since it’s not any speciality food, and was the suggestion of the clerk) to make sure it’s in stock.
I’ve given a 3 because the staff are generally very friendly..and that does account for something .

I have just moved to the area a few months ago and have a few animals. I wanted to give them my business, even though I typically go to Homes Alive. Well, the last 3 to 4 times I’ve gone, they have not had the food I feed my dog. It’s not a speciality food, just regular Acana, and when I mentioned this to the staff, I was told they ‘always’ sell out of this food. My thoughts are, if you ‘always’ sell out then why would you not order more? Is there no such thing as supply and demand? Once in a while not having it, I absolutely understand..but this has been a few times in a very short period of time now, and if it’s a high seller, then I don’t understand checking your numbers (as an organization) and making adjustments.
Again, I can walk into Homes Alive at ANY time and they have my food, but wanted to use someone closer and smaller to give my business to, but looks like I’ll take the extra drive to Homes Alive again, since this store can’t seem to keep normal/regular food in stock. ?♀️

The two associates that were here this morning on sunday were super helpful!
They were very knowledgeable about the products they carried in store and also helped us to find treats and toys that were good for our dog's size and temperament. They were super friendly and my little dog had such a great experience in the store as well. We will be back!

The staff is helpful and friendly, one young lady by the name of Bridget is outstanding, always smiling and very helpful.
