I spend a silly amount of cash at taps on my cardboard crack addiction and it's time to find a new dealer sadly. Taps has been the most convenient Lgs for me in Edmonton with a wide selection and decent prices but after my experience tonight prob won't be going back there for a while. I was meeting someone to sell some singles from my own personal collection and I also had a few orders ready for taps. Lo and Behold the buyer for my singles shows up in line behind me so I decided to sell him the cards on the spot there. I was picking up a couple hundred of dollars of cards already and waiting for a order to be pushed though so I had some down time to sell. The buyer was picking up some cards from the store also. Anyways One of the cashiers saw the transaction and took me to the old stairwell room and scolded me like I was a high-school kid explaining that they're a card store and you can't sell cards here. From My experience everywhere else Lgs's are suppose to be a safe place to trade and make deals. I would of much preferred to told up front hey don't do that up front or something than being taken to the back and told about it... but it's the first time I've ever heard about this policy also so, the buyer also never got spoken to about the event when he arguably was just as fault he also hung around much longer after I took off, not saying it was targeted to me but diff felt that way.

Taps Games is undeniably one of the best card shops in the city. Easily accessible, popular and always seems to be open, there is no other card shop I'd recommend to people looking to get into something or meet others interested.
That being said, Taps still has a few wrinkles that needs ironing out.
With the shop being one of the most popular, all it takes is you unknowingly coming in during a card sets release to be met with a huge lineup. Whilst they have the staff to support the crowd, having only 2 tills open at maximum definitely hinders the speed of lines.
They also tend to specialize in Magic, Pokémon and Warhammer. As much as those are the most popular things in tabletop gaming, finding things that don't align with them can tend to be difficult.
Despite those minor qualms, Taps Games is still the place I recommend first and foremost and will happily stop by to play and purchase games as I already have been doing nearly every week.

As a store that happens to sell Pokemon singles, the buying experience was rough, abysmal even. You can't really see the condition of their cards, and the ones displayed are obviously only the expensive ones, even their own search bar was awful since Pokemon has a vast quantity of types like Supporters, Items, etc. On top of that, when you do purchase multiple singles that weren't displayed, they don't even come in their own sleeves and were all mashed together into multiple penny sleeve. The only thing going for it is that they have prices that are at the very least competitive, otherwise there's really no point buying singles here when other card stores exist.

Love the in-store location, staff is always amazing and I enjoy seeing a familiar face when I go to the counter but... they've recently updated there website and its not vey user friendly anymore I cant find where to sell cards on the site, and their new order system with the drop down bar for type of card is inefficient and extra for no reason. It also looks very clunky, busy, and old.
Their old site was much easier to navigate much more modern and clean.
Overall this wont stop me from going as I do love them as an LGS but their site needs a little more love, but i can see them slowly fixing it up!

Awesome place to buy magic cards and meet fellow nerds who also like expensive cardboard ?
On the real though the staff are very friendly and knowledgeable plus they have a huge selection of stuff that will surely make you want to spend all your money.
Highly recommended!

Massive store, huge second story play space. Unfortunately play space does not appear wheelchair accessible but I could be wrong. Big selection of card games, Warhammer, Dungeons and Dragons, etc. Excellent online store as well. Best prices for MtG and Warhammer I've seen in Edmonton.
Edit: I'm so excited to hear that there is now an accessible play space! I'm looking forward to checking it out next time I'm there.

Arguably the one of the best if not the best game store for trading card/tabletop games in south Edmonton if not the whole city. Originally a smaller shop selling board games and trading cards on Saddleback Road next to Kunitz Shoes, it relocated to Calgary Trail and expanded to include tabletop war games and miniatures.
Ever since then they have become an institution (in my humble opinion), expanding to the status of a premier store and game space for many hobbyists including myself. Recently they expanded the second floor of their building to include the most tables I have ever seen in a game space to date, which is more than enough to accommodate their strong and healthy community. The staff are friendly and well informed about their products; they carry all manner of supplies and tools to equip anyone who wishes to take their hobby seriously. Magic the Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, and Warhammer are the dominant elements here, but they also sell different brands when they can get ahold of them, such as One Piece TCG or Marvel Crisis Protocol.
In conclusion I highly recommend this store to anyone looking to get into trading cards or tabletop games. They are one of only a few true game stores remaining in south Edmonton that survived the pandemic and it’s easy to see why.

My friends and I recently got started on playing Warhammer 40k, we've watched a few videos on how to get started but it was still a bit overwhelming. The employees were a great help in recommending us tools, and other basic utensils. Jay in particular was a great help. I'm colourblind so the stereotypical colors for the set wouldn't have worked out for me, but Jay completely picked out a whole new set of colours and told me exactly how to paint it in great detail! Amazing staff, I'll be sure to come back again!

My friend recently introduced me to Warhammer 40K, and this store is a fantastic resource for supplies and miniatures. Jay was one of the staff members that assisted us, he was incredibly helpful in getting my friends and I started in the right direction. He was not only informative but also genuinely kind to us, as were the other staff members. His support made our experience enjoyable and easy.

Very attentive staff, very knowledgable and approachable. Jay in particular was very helpful in helping me and my friend pick out the right paints we wanted for our first models, recommending a variety of different products to help get our journey started. Overall I could tell that the team is very passionate, and I will be coming back.
