Flight landed 30 min after National rental in Fort McMurray closed. I called at 6pm to ask the National office if they would stay open as Westjet had advised of a delay of 4+hours. I was told “No, we close at 10pm”. That’s it. I have experienced other offices staying open one an hour after closing if you call in advance. Many of us were stranded looking for cabs. Now I have to pay 80.00 in round trip cab fare to return at 8am tomorrow morning to get the car. Very disappointing.

My experience at National Car rentals's Fort McMurray, AB. Airport location.The following is a summary of events -* On September 10th I called a National Representative to modify my reservation - I received the modification complete with the new time, date & confirmation number (attached email);* When arriving @ The Fort McMurray (YMM) International airport I was greeted by your Assistant Manager, Rent-A-Car-Division, Md. Mahmudul Alam.* I gave Mr. Alam my name and confirmation # .... He responded "That's weird I don't have you in the system."* I showed Mr. Alam the email with the modified time, date & confirmation #. Mr. Alam acted like I was trying to pull a fast one on him?!?* Mr. Alam said "I don't have a vehicle for you." I responded "So you're not going to honour the confirmation # and email." Mr. Adam "Responded there is nothing I can do."* I asked Mr. Alam "How are you going to compensate me for National's mistake." Mr. Alam responded "It's not in the system and National doesn't give credit."* I asked for Mr. Alam's Manager ... Mr. Alam stated "He will tell you the same thing."* I asked "How are you going to make things right?" Mr. Alam stated "Give me some time." I responded - "How much time? He responded "5 mins."* In the 5 minutes time ... I went next door and rented the last AVIS vehicle on-site for an additional $100.* I went back to calmly give Mr. Alam some feedback on his terrible customer service. Mr. Alam was condescending, argumentative, interrupting, not listening, un-caring and had a snobbish attitude.* Mr. Alam finally admitted that the National representative must have deleted my modification. Additionally, Mr. Alam offered, on my next visit 50% off my next rental in Fort McMurray (I have no idea when I will be back in the Fort McMurray area, and Mr. Alam's promise was empty after his aforementioned attitude).My questions remain the same -* How can National not honour a confirmation?* What is National going to do to compensate me for my time & trouble?Regards,

Was charged an “Excessive Distance Charge” for less than 2hrs of driving over 2 days (less than 1/4 tank of gas). I also returned the vehicle with more gas than I received it (without reimbursement). I have been emailing and leaving voicemails for 2 weeks now asking for a correction with no response from National. Extremely disappointed with the level of customer service.

The guys and ladies at this location are a pleasure to deal with. Flew in 5 times in the last 5 weeks and every time it's been a pleasure to rent with them. I've even had special requests ahead of the rental and they have helped me out every time. Definitely my preferred rental company at the FtMac airport and will keep coming back everything I can when I'm in the area.

Considering this is in Ft. Mac, and the majority of rental must be going to energy-based companies and individuals, it is really absurd the lack of trucks and 4x4 rated SUVs available. I have even been asked if I want winter tires in the middle of November for an extra charge! They are always short on vehicles and way to many small to medium cars in the inventory.

The fort mcmurray branch (airport) was closed and late for my pick up. I was delayed for about an hour. Also when I called the people in charge they asked me to wait few minutes then again more time, holding me on site until they showed up.They knew would be late as the airport security told me they always come late to open the counter.

Overall, a good experience. However, it maybe best if they testing the extra safety equipment such as the beacon light to ensure they work since we depend on them working when we need them.

The car was just right and the service was timely considering the Covid protocols. The only thing was finger prints all over the back windows other than that it was perfect.

The most frustrating experience you may have with a car rental. The car was reserved for after hours and their branch manager confirmed they can arrange it for me. But the agent responsible never called me and I had to take a cab to hotel. Next day I called their branch but no one answered. Next, I called customer service and the only thing they did was to initiate an incident number and said it may take days before anyone responds. I said why no one answering at the branch. She said they usually don't!!! First time seeing something like this.

Great service from the guys here! If you call ahead, they would prestart your car for you. If you're flight is running late, they would wait for you. Couldn't ask for better service.

Booked a pickup truck for a one-way trip through Expedia. The day I booked the vehicle I phoned National about 20 times during their "open" hours and my call was never picked up once, I called the next day and they answered. I told them I had just booked a truck and I wanted to make sure everything was good with the reservation and that they actually had the truck there. They informed me everything was good and there was nothing to worry about. The day of the rental I take a cab to the location to pick up my vehicle and they inform me that I cannot have the truck because I am under 25, no options, cannot pay more for insurance, cannot have another person sign for the rental, nothing, just have to take a cab back home and figure something else out. Why would you allow someone to make a reservation without an age filter if you will not rent to people under age x? Spent 60 dollars in cab fair in order to experience this joke of a company.
