This is a lovely small but very informative museum. If you are interested in how the area developed and how the railroad unified Canada, there is a wealth of information here. There is also a very interesting section on how the area was surveyed and mapped out. Well worth a visit.

Great museum, well worth visit to see how life developed in and around Jasper. Nature, mountaineering, commerce, local cultures lots for everyone. We were asked for a donation as a ticket entry which we were very happy to give.

Great museum. Entrance fee is a donation (suggestion: $8). Tells you a lot about the Rockies, the wildlife and the first habitants.
Saw a geological map of the area and proceeded to buy one ($3.95,-)!

I discovered the Jasper Museum through Instagram and decided to check it out and I’m so glad I did! It’s a perfect 1–2 hour stop, whether you’re a history buff or visiting with kids.
The museum is filled with fascinating displays, historical artifacts, and even taxidermy animals that give you a deeper appreciation of how Jasper National Park came to be. Everything is well organized, informative, and engaging a great way to learn about the local history, early settlers, and the railway’s role in the area’s development.
There’s also a lovely little gift shop with unique items, local art, books, and thoughtful souvenirs. It’s definitely worth a visit if you’re in Jasper and looking for something meaningful, educational, and family-friendly.

I recently visited the Jasper Yellowhead Museum, and it was a truly lovely experience. The museum is clean, cozy, and full of local history that’s both engaging and easy to explore. One of the highlights was the interactive golf corner for kids — such a creative and fun addition! It kept the little ones entertained while also teaching them a bit about the sport. The space feels very family-friendly, and the staff were warm and welcoming. A great place to visit if you're in Jasper, especially with children!
