A legendary and historic place. Worth to drop in for a look, or stay longer for a drink at the pub. Relax, open your mind, be friendly, and allow the Jasper experience to unfold around you! This is one of the most authentic and well preserved of such hotels in Western Canada. They’ve done such a great job of keeping it in service, with minimal modernization!
Staying in the hotel isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. If you’re fat, entitled, and expect a cookie-cutter modern American hotel experience LOOK ELSEWHERE (Jasper itself & the Atha B likely aren’t for you).

This place is a decent price given the location, but its age shows. We were checked into a room right next to the ice machine. We went to the desk and asked for a different one and we were told it gets shut off at 10pm every night, so we decided to keep the room. Well as it turns out, that was a lie right to our faces and let me tell you, that ice machine is highly trafficked 24/7 in a hotel that doesn’t have air conditioning during a week that it’s in the 80s & 90s Fahrenheit. Wouldn’t stay here next time I’m in the area.

Old hotel in a great location... we stayed in a room with shared bathroom down the hallway... room was small with a sink. Jasper prices are very expensive.

This hotel is very nicely located. The rooms are small and fairly adequate. (there is no sitting area so you are either doing your daily planning on the bed or in the restaurant downstairs) A small air conditioning unit would be a very welcome addition. There is no fridge or coffee machine in the room...a complimentary morning coffee voucher would be a very nice alternative (!)
The service at the front desk, in the restaurant and the bars was very good. The coffee was excellent and the portions were generous.
I want to make this VERY clear. This is NOT AN ACCESSIBLE establishment. I am able-bodied, but climbing 41 steps to the rooms gets old in a hurry. Lost service stars come from the lack of assistance for mobility-challenged patrons! There was a gentleman descending the stairs with a cane while dragging two luggage bags. He declined OUR assistance...but where is the staff?? There is no elevator, service provided should compensate for that!! (there were several other similar instances noted)
If you have any mobility issues, this is not the hotel for you.

We had a family dinner at O'shea's as part of my Dad's Celebration of Life. Our server was very attentive and the food was delicious.
Next time we're in Jasper we will definitely eat at the Athabasca again

Clean and Beautiful Junior Suite with 1 queen and 2 twins beds was very nice at competitive rates. Best of the hotel are location, free parking and restaurants at ground floor serving delicious meals.

One of the worst hotels we’ve ever stayed in. Everything cheap except the price. No A/C, one bar of soap for use in shower and bathroom sink, no plastic bag provided for ice bucket, no in room coffee, couldn’t even provide a shower cap. Needless to say we won’t be going back!
Rooms: Very cheap with the simple services. For almost $300 a night, you could provide soap for shower and sink. Shower caps would be a plus

A beautiful hotel right in the main strip of Jasper. The rooms were clean and incredibly comfortable, the staff was amazingly friendly and the service was top notch. It's a beautifully decorated heritage hotel from the 1920s so keep in mind there are no elevators and many of the cheaper rooms share bathrooms on the same floor. I was originally worried because the price per night was so low but I can confidently say any future visits to Jasper will involve accommodations at the Athabasca.

Excellent location to explore Jasper. Friendly staff & rooms were good and cleaned well - would be great to see more steps for sustainability e.g not washing all the towels/bedding every day
