The rooms were simple but clean. The front desk staff were always available and friendly. Nice to find a place in a Tourist Town like Jasper that was reasonably priced for it's location. Would definitely recommend for the budget traveler.

Update: since posting this issue, the hotel has called us back and booked our trip on alternative dates. Thank you Emily!Booked this hotel on Christmas Day and one of us got Covid - trying to not spread it, we called to cancel the reservation. The manager would not give refund, he didn’t care that we have Covid or that if we come it would spread to his guests. Terrible service, you can see what his priority is. Definitely do not recommend this hotel when staying in Jasper.Hi Emily,We are trying to do this and have called 3 times to change the dates and keep being told the manager cannot do it, he can only leave a note on file. We would love to change the dates, but no one is helping us. This is definitely not how I planned spending Christmas with Covid and on the phone with your hotel most of the day. If you have a phone number I could call directly, that would be appreciated.

Nice clean rooms pretty good for an older building. Kitchen is fully set up & ready to use. Outdoor hot tubes are great & the staff is friendly & helpful. Totally worth the rate for what you get. Oh if your room has a fireplace they will give you a firelog every night free of

Our room was immaculately clean and the staff were super friendly and accommodating. The hotel is close to all amenities, and we had a beautiful view of the mountains from our room. For travellers who want to get a little wet, the property has an indoor pool and hot tub in addition to two outdoor hot tubs.Walkability: The Jasper townsite is less than a ten minute walk away. There are plenty of hiking trails nearby, including Pyramid Lake, which is a 15 minute drive north-west. For early morning coffee drinkers, there are multiple Starbucks locations within walking distance.

My husband, myself, and our two teenagers stayed in a residential suite. The room was very clean and comfortable. Having a kitchen available was a huge plus. The location is great, easy to find, and had plenty of parking. I will be recommending the Tonquin Inn to any of my friends and family wanting to stay in Jasper.

Room was clean and spacious. We had a corner suite with 2 queen beds and a balcony. On top of that, a pool and hot tub made the stay well worth it. There is also a gym on the upper level above the pool area. Hotel staff also provided us with a microwave. Only thing was that the bathroom curtains were slightly ripped because they were too long. Aside from that, the hotel is convenient, and I can say underrated. Highly recommend for anyone staying in Jasper!

My boyfriend and I enjoyed our time at the Tonquin Inn this past week on our visit to Jasper. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Parking was easy and the hotel is in walking distance to all the amenities. We enjoyed the outdoor hottub too. Staff was friendly at check in and accommodating throughout our stay. Thank you for the hospitality.

A great stop when passing through Jasper although quite pricey compared to other hotels in other cities. The rooms have been recently updated, the bed was comfy to sleep on. The outdoor hot tubs were an added bonus and were very clean. The front desk staff were friendly and polite when checking in and checking out. About a 15 minute walk to most restaurants and shops in town so we felt it was a great location. Overall I would stay here again.

All of the hotels in Jasper are fifty years outdated as they are in a federal national park and nothing changes without federal permits etc. so you are paying high fees for your grandparents, or older, accommodations. The Tonquin is no different.Parking is at a premium here and o suspect they have one spot for every three rooms air appears. The Tonquin has an indoor pool in the shape of an L and an indoor hot tub that may or may not be open ever. I hen we booked they confirmed it would be open but alas it was not. BUT there are two outdoor hot tubs but they they are outside or different building across the parking lot in a different part of the hotel. There is a dry sauna in both women’s and men’s change roomsThe hotel rooms are pretty big and offer another interesting look back in time with original lights, moulding and bathroom fixtures and cabinetry. There is a small fridge and portable air conditioner supplied so that was good. I had a little chuckle when my eyesight (6’2” tall) was over the shower head and that the curtain was longer and was all over the tub. The bed was terrible and the old school sofa bed (bar across the back) was horrible too. No one slept well at all.I noticed there was an outlet for two usb’s and two power cords and tried it but nothing worked so I decided to call the front desk. To my surprise I noticed the phone had a blank sheet over the area where other hotels display where to call for issues luckily “0” means the same everywhere. The sound on the phones are scratchy at best and it takes 5-7 phone calls on average to get ahold of the front desk fyi. When you do forward on a concern to the front desk they all at “we’ll call maintenance” so don’t expect anything to get done. Luckily you are only a short half kilometre to the city centre for meals, shopping or contemplating other adventures or hotels.

I was pleasantly surprised with this hotel. The rooms were pretty good, they had great air conditioning, there was pretty good space, they were pretty clean.I didn't like that We checked in at 4:15 p.m. (and keep in mind 4:00 p.m. is their standard check-in time which is already pretty late) And they weren't sure if the room was ready. Also, it's not a good idea to take up parking with a big ugly truck that you'd use for taking out all the old furniture. It's also not a good idea to stack old furniture in the parking lot. And finally, having to call to request a microwave is absolutely ridiculous.Despite the cons, I would still recommend this place. It's as good as most other hotels in Jasper. The staff are also very nice to us.

My girlfriend booked a room for 2 nights and was told the price over the phone and confirmed the price TWICE. Upon arriving we were told that the reservation had been broken up into 2. Dennis the manager was extremely rude and not helpful at all. Not only that the pillows in the room smelled of smoke. When talked to the manager he asked us if we smoke in a very condescending tone. Very unhappy with the lack of service and would not recommend this location to anyone.

Came with very low expectations after reading the reviews.Front desk team were nice and efficient.Room is very small, especially a very tiny bathroom. Pretty outdated (can hotels stop with the carpets! So gross), smells like cigarettes in there or something like that, don’t know why. A/C worked well and at least gave some white noise and air flow. They should put some oil diffuser or something there.Definitely not clean enough! It’s like they did the most minimal cleaning. We took the room with two double beds which is not the best for a couple but it’s what they had. Beds were pretty comfortable. We won’t come back , I’d rather pay more for a nicer place.

I don’t complain normally, my expectations are super low. The room smells, an unpleasant odor, like a peed on carpet. Bed was dirty, had stains and hair on the bed sheet. Had them come up and change it but the guy who did it seemed annoyed and put out. Uncomfortable feeling. It was pretty apparent at least one of the beds was left unchanged from the last guest, which grossed me right out. Carpet must be 30 years old at least which could explain the smell.Noisy, cheap portable air conditioner. I feel like I’mat a budget hotel in the shadiest part of any city. For almost $400, very disappointed. This is the second negative review I have ever done for a hotel, and is by far the worst. I am so easily pleased it annoys my wife but this is not good in any way. Complaining further to staff would accomplish nothing as the hotel is inexplicably full, I guess due to Jasper in summer.

I rarely find the need to express my dissatisfaction in a review, but my recent stay at Tonquin Inn in Jasper was simply appalling. The numerous issues I encountered during my visit left me with no choice but to share my negative experience.First and foremost, the rooms were far from satisfactory. They were dirty, smelly, and desperately in need of an update. The overall lack of cleanliness was evident, making me question the hotel's commitment to maintaining a decent standard of hygiene. The outdated furnishings and decor only added to the feeling of neglect and discomfort. To make matters worse, the prices charged by the hotel did not align with the quality of the accommodations. I had expected a certain level of comfort and cleanliness given the $375 a night rate, but the reality fell far short of my expectations. It is disheartening to pay a premium price for a subpar experience.Furthermore, I was greeted by a visible gap between the exterior door and its frame, allowing the intrusive scent of cigarette smoke to permeate the room. As a non-smoker, this was both frustrating and unpleasant. It's clear that the hotel fails to enforce proper smoking regulations, thereby compromising the well-being of its non-smoking guests. The air conditioner in the room was incredibly loud, making it almost impossible to have a peaceful night's sleep. The constant noise disrupted my rest and left me feeling tired and irritable throughout my stay. The lack of attention to such basic maintenance issues is indicative of the hotel's negligence.Rooms are not cleaned daily nor are the beds made. The front desk staff did not fare any better in their service. When we requested towels, we were informed that they had run out and were only provided with a single bath mat to dry off. This level of unpreparedness and disregard for guests' needs is simply unacceptable. It demonstrates a lack of professionalism and attentiveness on the part of the hotel staff.Given my experience, I cannot in good conscience recommend Tonquin Inn to anyone. If you have the opportunity, I strongly advise staying elsewhere in Jasper. There must be better options available that prioritize cleanliness, modern amenities, and attentive customer service. This hotel failed on all fronts, leaving a lasting negative impression that I will not soon forget.
