About McDougall Memorial United Church
McDougall Memorial United Church is a great, peaceful, and very pleasant historical site and landmark near Morley, Alberta. Built in 1875, it is a significant part of the Morleyville settlement, one of Southern Alberta’s earliest pioneer communities, and offers a glimpse into Alberta's pioneer past. The site includes the charming wooden church, a cabin, and a memorial grave. This is a reproduction church, as the original burnt down in 2017, and visitors can go inside. It is a beautiful, serene, and picturesque spot with stunning views of the mountains and lake, perfect to stop, stretch your legs, and take in the views. It is described as an amazing spot for great pictures, a beautiful atmosphere for a wedding or a photoshoot, and a very interesting attraction. There is lots of well-informed and educational reading about the history of the area, including the McDougall family’s role in early missionary work. Visitors find it a spiritual and haunting place that helps imagine life in early Alberta. It is a functioning church with regular services and is considered a worth-it, off-the-beaten-path place to visit.

An interesting historical church in Morleyville. Restored and soen good information on its history from the 1880's as a missionary Church. Classic prairie church style.

Great place.
We visited during the Aurora night on oct 10.
It’s amazing spot for great picture and place is very peaceful.
We really enjoyed the time at this spot. I felt this place is worth to visit whenever we go around this area.
