As a person of colour, my experience at Sobeys was really disappointing. I was there for just TWO days before being let go for being "too slow." It felt unfair, especially since I had to memorize around 500 items—something that typically takes others a month or two to remember l’ve been told). To make matters worse, I noticed the supervisor gossiping about my performance to the manager the whole. Another incident made the situation even worse. The supervisor would frequently try to embarrass me in front of customers, saying things like, “You have to ask if they want a bag,” even though I had already done so. It happened so often that some customers would actually step in and tell her that I had already asked and that they understood I was new. Overall, it was a really frustrating situation. (The stuff I had to memorize are shown below)

The bakery is excellent. The biggest thing i don't like about this store is their produce section. The way they stack fruit on top of each other most often causes large portions to be bruised and sometimes moldy. I understand that there are things that interrupt the flow of their products, but when I call to ask for a specific thing and the person running a section outright lies to me, it seriously ticked me off. I went to the store for the specific product, I didn't have anything else that I needed and what made it worse is that I shop there often enough that there's a number of employees that know be sight, that I'm physically disabled and that walking causes a lot of pain. It wouldn't have been so bad, except this was the second time over the summer that this has happened. I've lived in Red Deer and area for almost 20 years now.

Kevin helped me on Saturday night around 7:30. He was on a break but came out to help me in the deli meat section. He cleaned everything before starting which I really appreciated.

Omg the produce. It never looks good anymore. Everything wilted and moldy everytime I go. Everything so expensive at Sobeys it should at least be fantastic quality but it's not even edible.

I have been shopping here for years. I love this store because it is always clean, I know where everything is and they don’t move things around too much . Sobeys red deer south is never too crowded and they always have the same smiling staff . Not a big staff turnover here which means it’s very well managed. Kudos to the staff ! Highly recommend this store for all your grocery needs .

Worst customer service in a bakery EVER! The two older women (one being the manager) were so unbelievably rude after I had called ahead of time about getting an image on a cake. I think they need to work on their people skills! What I got I can say is not what I would’ve liked

Very impressed with this store, especially their very organized gluten free sections (freezer aisle and three other aisles). Also, a huge shoutout to a cashier named Tina - she was so friendly and helpful and made my dreaded big grocery haul, after a long day of work, much more pleasant. Thanks for making my night Tina!
