Sylvan Star Cheese Ltd. is a big, beautiful shop full of yummy cheese and everything that pairs well with it. The store is cute and quaint, offering lots of interesting candy, food, knick knacks, furniture, and many other Dutch food items like beef jerky, nuts, cookies, jams, pickles, and ice cream. They also have locally and Alberta products, mainly sausages and jerky. The cheese is delicious, with some calling it the best they have ever tasted by a long shot. They are willing to experiment with flavours for their cheeses with different add-ins like nettle or truffle. The staff are friendly and courteous, providing excellent service. Bulk pricing for getting a wheel of Gouda is worth the trip.

I bought their havarti at a little butcher shop in Leduc, and whoa... Literally the best cheese I have ever tasted. BY A LONG SHOT! Seriously though, I will be taking the trip to Red Deer specifically to buy all the other cheeses this store offers. No joke.

We picked a few packages up this weekend at the Sylvan Lake Yuletide Festival and we couldn’t be happier with the flavours! Will definitely be stopping in for more!
