We went into the branch looking for some information on opening a business account. We were only looking to ask some very simple preliminary questions, but were pleasantly surprised when a representative (Matthew) escorted us to his office to discuss our financial needs and see how he could help us. This was in stark contrast to RBC which handed us a brochure ad brushed us off. We were made to feel that if we chose to bank with ATB that we would be treated as valued customers. I am only giving 4 stars for now, and reserving the 5th for if and when we actually do business with this bank and see if they actually walk the talk. But our first impressions were very promising.

After over 12 years with TD Canada Trust, we ended up in a very strange and unique situation that we wanted to look at options to streamline better. The only options TD could offer us were kick to the teeth. The customer service was fairly atrocious and we left feeling belittled and demeaned. We have switched our services to ATB, who looked for answers and gave us several options that suited us well. Darlene at the Wetaskiwin branch was open to listening and was able to help us with every detail, even when we weren't yet customers. I feel like they are true to their advertisements that they listen, and we are happy to switch our services to them.EDIT: We tried to switch our investments to ATB but have given up with no confidence in them to get us what we are looking for. We made an appointment to open an RDSP and RRSP just to be told that it couldn't be done in the branch. They were also not sure what an RDSP was. We then went through the process to get it done via Dex Dunford through the ATB Wealth Advice Center. My RRSPs should have been transferred within a couple of weeks, and I know that RDSPs can take some time. Two months after starting the process neither account had been opened. Every time I checked in I was simply told that they were waiting to hear from the CRA regarding my eligibility for the RDSP, and he couldn't explain why the RRSP hadn't been opened. I've cancelled the process and will be going through an instuition that has a better handle on investments.I have kept the star rating for the in branch service, however, which I maintain is parallel to none!
