Haven't been to a Dollar general in several years. Overall, a great selection of everyday items in a small town. In the clover valley House brand is actually pretty good. The mixed nuts are great!

It's 8:03 a.m. on Monday the 12th of August 2024 and I just left the Dollar General on Naco Highway. I walked in there with some questions, but could not find an employee. I walked the entire store aisle by aisle, and still no employee. I looked in the back where it said employees only, and still no employee. So I left and I'm sitting in the parking lot right now, as to make this review. The hours state they opened at 7:00 a.m. I would understand if I walked in at 7:00 a.m., but it was 8:00 a.m. have the employees of Dollar general all been abducted? The mystery remains.....

Came in tonight, usually the lady who's been working there for multiple years and everyone else is extremely nice and helpful. I came in looking for glow in the dark paint, couldn't find any, so I looked in the nail polish section out of desperation, even asked the lady there to confirm there was none. I came in eating an Archer's meatstick from Safeway. I had the wrapper in my hand at the time of talking to her, figured if I came in and put a wrapper in my pocket it would look suspicious, so I held it in my hand the whole time.Then as I'm at my car the lady comes out and asks if I had something in my hand. I asked her "wha?" Because I didn't hear, thinking I had forgotten my phone and she was being helpful. But she asked what was in my hand. I told her it was my wrapper from safeway to which she just responded "oh.." like almost in a disapproving disbelief. I already felt insecure because I look rough having just thrown on some clothes before leaving and had worked all day, But I was clearly profiled since first being spotted and it really bummed me out. I understand there's alot of theft that probably goes on at dollar stores, and i get that i probably look like a methhead ragamuffin, but by me engaging an employee to let them know I REALIZE their watching my every move, with my snack IN my hand, I'm acknowledging this. And it isn't a good feeling. This is a small town and I shouldnt have to feel like someone is assuming I'm a criminal when I'm not. I also shouldn't have to put on makeup and my Sunday Best to go to the dollar general. It's just lame. I realize she was just trying to do her job and I genuinely think it's great she cares that much but I hate presumptive weird vibes when I'm in a store. I'm not the dirtbag you think I am. Sorry. Thanks for doing your job I guess?

Today could've been one of the worse days of my life considering I had just been released from the hospital and jail and I was 3.5 hours away from home, feeling and looking like a total dump with only $19 on my card... I came to the dollar general in hopes of getting enough items to clean myself up and not smell like B.O anymore... well I came to get my total and was $5 over the $19 that I had.. Thank God for an angel named Debbie who is also the manager... she paid my $5 and let me clean up in the bathroom for about 30 minutes. She is AMAZING and alsp so many people in this little town. Thank you Debbie. The world needs more of you. ?
