This place is worth the anxiety-filledATV ride just for the friendly staff, amazing steak sandwich and the lovely hummingbirds!

Venturing to The Mill Restaurant in Crown King, AZ, is like stepping into a delightful time capsule, ideal for a lunch stop during an off-road adventure. The restaurant's allure lies in its rudimentary architecture and an array of mining artifacts, creating an ambiance that transports you back in time. Its strategic location offers an outdoor seating area perched atop a scenic vantage point, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. The historical significance is palpable, as the restaurant was once a stamp mill, processing gold-rich ore from nearby mines.Inside, the charm continues with a huge wood stove, an essential comfort on cooler days. At nearly 6000 feet elevation, it's a quaint escape in the summer, offering a cooler retreat from the sweltering heat below. However, while the setting and atmosphere are commendable, the culinary experience leaves much to be desired. The food, albeit average, doesn't quite match the restaurant's higher ratings. I sampled the pork tacos, which, while flavorful, were disappointingly greasy. The shoestring fries, on a brighter note, were a tasty accompaniment. My companion's burger, served on toasted sourdough, was also excessively greasy, and lacked in flavor. In summary, The Mill Restaurant is a picturesque spot steeped in history, perfect for those seeking a rustic ambiance. However, for food enthusiasts, it might be a bit underwhelming. It's a great reminder that sometimes, the location's charm and history can overshadow the culinary experience. Worth a visit for the experience, but set your dining expectations accordingly.Parking: On the day we went, there was plenty of parking, although I could see it filling up during busy times.

Really nice getaway if you have a vehicle that can get you there. Crown King is always about 15 or 20 degrees cooler than the valley year round. The mill is a nice place with outdoor seating. The menu is a bit limited and perhaps a bit pricey but considering the effort that has to be put in to get products there really can't blame them. The staff is really friendly and the place is very rustic. The hamburgers we had were good.

Amazing food, awesome people, stunning location. Great stop for a meal after a long ride. Brisket tacos and a beer, plus the slaw really hit the spot. If weather permits, sit on the patio and enjoy. 10/10

The people are great. The food is just good. The atmosphere is fantastic. It's been a few years since I've been here. It used to be a sit-down service kind of place. Today we ordered and waited for our food. Then picked it up at the register area and took it back to our table. (And, the food was good.) Not a big deal. Just not what was expected.

Stopped here to grab a quick bite and knowing they were dog friendly was great. They brought a fresh bowl of ice water outside next to our table which was awesome for our dogs. The small cut fries were addictive! While the reuben was good I've had better as the bread got soggy. I'll definitely be back to try a
