Beta Bouldering is the best! So friendly to everyone, especially beginners. I loved the space for workout equipment and yoga.

Gwen made me and my friends first time bouldering a great experience! The PG facility is inviting and nonjudgmental for ALL climbing learners. The gym area is minimal but clean and the location is near forest. They opened up one of the windows and we could smell the trees while we climbed. Beta created a great memory for me and my friend. They provided a chalk bag and great tips. Signed a waiver before we started and had an engaging bonding time.

Beta is a good gym. It's not a super-center gym from SLC, so if you're expecting that, that's on you. For Flagstaff, it's great, and blows Flag Climb out of the water. The walls are a good height. Not short, but not so tall that they outgun the padding system. Good variety of terrain, too. They have slab, vert, dihedrals, slight, moderate, and full overhangs, a roof/cave, aretes. You can train what you need here.I'm happy with the setting, especially that they don't do the stupid big-gym style setting where massive holds are used that take up tons of space and block other problems. That style of setting is terrible and I'm glad Beta doesn't set that way. The tape system is suuuuuper obvious. Hard to see why anyone would complain there. My only complaint is that generally, the cave problems aren't set as well as the rest of the gym. Dunno why, they're just not as fun.The grading is good. Too many gyms these days use Charmin-Ultrasoft grades. Beta is where I expect a good gym to be.They have gym rings and lots of hangboards so you can use the one you prefer. Love that they have the Progression hangboard. Campus board, too, but I don't use that.Really happy to see that member dues actually go to upgrading the facility. The new moonboard and padding is nice (even though I mainly use the tensionboard). Now, for the gripes:1. There's no spray wall. Man, a 25-30 degree spray wall is the biggest thing that's missing, and it would be absolutely killer. Maybe 2-3x as wide as the moonboard would really make the space awesome.2. The weight section seriously needs investment. Just a few things would transform it into a perfect setup. They need a) another barbell b) new benches c) better cable machine attachments (and 5lb removable plates for the weight stacks) d) safeties for people who wanna squat/bench without a spotter e) dumbbells to 80lbs. 40lbs is too low of a max weight. Finally, they NEED a power tower/dip station. The pre-owned folding chairs just really aren't cutting it.They're 80% of the way there. Just need those last 20% to go from 'very good' to 'Fantastic'.Still, I'm very happy as a member here. One of the better gyms I've been to. The community vibe here is good.

This gym is well laid out and has some really fun climbs. It's very beginner friendly and has quite a few V0-V1 climbs. Day passes are super affordable. I highly recommend!

The setting is excellent and the diversity of problems makes this a fantastic place to train. I'm really excited about the Tension Board!

We are here on vacation and we wanted to bring our girls to the gym to burn some energy. We called ahead of time to make sure it was family friendly, it’s not. As soon as my girls got their shoes on people in the gym had an issues with my girls being there. I tried to ignore it so my girls would enjoy the time but women and the person she was with made a comment about how “I am the kind of person who takes a baby to a move theater” and then loudly complained about my girls being there. So we left. $45 for 10 minutes. Don’t take your kids here.

It has been a joy see my climbing progress with the help of Beta Bouldering! front desk staff is incredible, there are frequent gym resets, and I always feel super welcome even though I am a beginner-level climber. I have been a Beta patron since November 2021, and I often go 2-4 times a week for a couple of hours. Thanks Bryce, Brennan, Spencer, Ash, Riley, Courtney, Gwen, Sav, and the rest of the awesome staff :)

Super fun big boulding gym. All routes are set monochromatically. The routes were well set and for all ability levels. Will definitely be back!

An interesting space. Not my favorite "vacation" bouldering gym, I stopped in Flagstaff for just a night and came here because the other boulder gym in town is "members only" except for Wednesday, and alas it's Tuesday. There are other reviews that talk about the holds being dirty, I've been to many gyms and the holds here are really chalky and a number are pretty greasy. They set on Mon/Wed but I'm not sure they do large section refreshes?? Maybe just 3-4 routes? Many gyms reset entire walls at a time, maybe they don't have enough setters? Honestly it only looks like there are 3 new routes up. My home gym refreshes our gym in a 6 week cycle with a new area fully refreshing every week and the holds being pressure washed between sets.Apart from excess chalk, it's hard to read a significant number of the taping on the older/dusty routes, it's mono-color routes- but the tape is peeled and routes that use the wall top as a top/finish don't have clear indicators for the route color that's ending on the wall. I spent a lot of my time trying to see black vs blue vs purple holds to find my route as well as some difficulty with orange/red. Maybe a laminate tag with the tape on the wall top would help with those wall top finishes. The walls here have a different texture, it's kinda like acrylic covered stucco? So it might have a little grip but the coating + chalk buildup does not give you much to smear on. It's not a walltopia walled gym.Cool things I really liked: the wall to "top" on is thick and rounded so it gives a great hold for finishing. They have 2 cave areas which was cool, one has a really intense flat roof so the routes are really tricky when climbing out of the cave. There is also a less steep cave which is very tall and the routes make good use of this length. There's also a large number of overhanging and slightly overhung areas that give some great challenges. They have really nice fully padded floors although not 100% flat/level there are some low areas and changes in elevation. A final highlight is that they are open until 10 on most nights, this is really rad and I appreciate being able to climb later in the evening. Also good ventilation in this gym!Front desk was also really nice and easy to check in. In my opinion 18$ day pass is a bit much for this gym. Maybe if I ever get back to Flagstaff I'd stop back- but if it's a Wednesday I would definitely try the other gym before this one.

Fun little gym with some good routes and accurate ratings. I popped in to check it out while I was in town for the weekend and I will definitely go back next time.

Beta is easily the best bouldering gym in flagstaff and with the new expansion they just put in the opportunity to do yoga and have a full set of gym equipments has only elevated it.

Nice gym with a lot of bouldering routes. There were climbs for all levels of climbers. The lighting wasn't great in places and some of the holds are kind of old, but overall it was a nice place to climb.
