I adopted a little brown dog, named him Ch’áayah, and he lived with me from November 2020 until today. He had some medical issues they made me aware of and I didn’t think twice about adopting him. He was truly such a gem, lots of spunk and personality. The staff was super helpful when I adopted him and made the process easy. Last photo is him the day of adoption.

I don't usually review or comment about not for profits, they work hard and have to be extremely resourceful to keep their organization going. However, what I thought was going to be a good experience turned out to be negative. I was in the process of trying to find a place to rehome my son's dog, the reasons and story behind the decision are complicated so I thought the staff would be helpful and understanding. After a brief first call to find out their process, I was told to call back the following week. When I called back, the staff member who I spoke with was rude and dismissive. She asked a few general questions, then told me because my son's dog didn't like cats, she wasn't going to take him. I didn't understand since many dogs don't like cats. She suggested that I call Animal Control to see if they'd pick him up and take him to the other animal shelter in Flagstaff. They wouldn't, so I called the second animal shelter and the experience with them has been nothing short of miraculous. Coconino County Humane my son gave your organization over $200 for a puppy we had to return. Remember you're a non profit serving the public and should remember where your financial support comes from. I volunteered for over 17 years and never was any organization so disconnected from their mission and purpose.

Very special place. Unfortunately, the lack of poor customer service exists here.

We adopted our dearly beloved dog Yogi, an Australian Shepherd-Blue Heeler-Border Collie, from CHA on 4/6/2010 and he died in our home 11/20/2023. He was the best dog I have ever known. I went to CHA today to give treats from him to the sweet dogs there who need to be adopted. I will always love and miss Yogi. I am thankful he adopted us and for all the joy he gave us!

Had questions about giving up some pups, asked a few and answered a few and when I ask if I was clear to drop them off all I was told before hearing the phone just hang up on me "let me check and ask some questions on my end" I'm not going to put out names but get it together don't be so rude I'm trying to find a good home for some pups and was just ignored and never got a call back

Stop here first if looking to adopt! It's a good idea to shop around for the best fit, and the facility at this shelter isn't as fancy as others in the area, but I found them to be considerably more friendly, open, and willing to help (no matter how hectic the office got).Bonnie is an awesome addition to our pack. So glad I stopped by Coconino Humane.

I visited the shelter to pay for and pick up a neuter voucher for my new service dog in training. CHA has the cheapest low cost spay/neuter voucher programs in Flagstaff! The staff is so friendly but young. As I used to be a vet tech, I noticed a young staff member struggling to give a kitten his intake vaccines. I gave advice on how to safely, for the kitten and herself, give the vaccine. The staff member followed my advice and the vaccine was safely and successfully administered. Bonus!!

Really love these two puppies. I was clear about not wanting a.bully mix… Even though they are, it all worked out.

I went to adopt my first cat, and the staff were kind, but not super helpful. I had to go back to the cat room alone without staff to guide me or help me look at the cats available for adoption. It would have been nice to have someone who worked there and knew more about the cats to help me pick the perfect fit! However, other than that the experience was fine and relatively calm. I ended up adopting a sweet girl from them and they made the adoption process pretty straightforward.

I visited recently and you can tell they genuinely do care for the animals. Wonderful place to go if you’re considering adopting, they have dogs, cats, a bunny, Guinea pigs, etc! Please donate to them and consider adopting from them. Everyone was so friendly!
