This place is amazing. Getting a car is super quick and efficient. The only thing that was a let down is the wait time when getting your car serviced. We were told 3 hours and it turned into 6. Other than that, everyone is super friendly and professional.

Absolute sad place. Transferred a car down from another state, all of the tires had dry rot and cracked. Would not replace tires or do anything about issue. Off to the next place, anything but another CarMax. Bought a couple of cars here at this same store. No more CarMax deals for me. Shame.

I’d be careful about making service appointments here. I was quoted for parts and service I did not need by their Service department.
I work for a car dealership, so I knowingly got a second opinion at another store after having my diagnostic done with CarMax Service department yesterday. What do you know? I was told I did not need the extra parts and the parts that were claimed to be needed were still in good condition.
I called into Carmax this morning to ask for a quote on the actual parts needed plus bringing up being told I needed 8 parts when I only needed 2. The woman on the phone put me on hold, then unknowingly transferred me to the woman I was speaking to in person the day before. That woman barely listened to my concerns outside of negating them.
The lady then said the man who worked on my car was next to her and she was going to ask whether he got specific measurements on my car.. that they aren’t scamming and tried saying it cost $190 per axel. I was quoted $97.80 if parts were in and then told almost $900. AGAIN, not what was asked.. not important to the conversation I called in upset about. I just wanted a quote on the back brakes being replaced while voicing that they tried to get over on me. She put me on another long hold and I hung up.
I feel like they tried to get more money out of me than needed, plus I couldn’t trust the mechanic NOR the service worker to be honest about the pricing for my vehicle. I definitely recommend going elsewhere if able. The price is the price, ofc, I won’t argue with paying the prices due, but honesty is what makes the sale worth closing. This was tasteless and tacky.

Found a truck in CarMax’s vast network, had it shipped to a more local dealer, and the rest is history. The one thing I do wish, is the ability to negotiate vehicle prices. The vehicle we purchased was sold for a bit above KBB high value, while our trade-in was over a thousand less than the KBB low value for a trade-in. Not fair in any way, but I loved vehicle they had, so I went through with the purchase.

I'm extremely disappointed in the customer service that has been provided to me from the service department. I'm a disabled veteran, recently retired in my home city of Chicago. I have been experiencing suspension noises when driving my vehicle, luckily i have the CarMax warranty that would cover my repairs, or so i thought until I was told I had the wrong size tires on the vehicle. I have never replaced my tires and this is the first time using my warranty, come to find out Carmax put the wrong size tires during their inspection before they sold it to me. They used a Laufenn S Fit AS 235/55/18, due to the tire not being the correct size my warranty could be voided. I am going to file a complaint with the Attorney General and BBB, they need to do the right thing and pay to have the correct tires put on my vehicle. They are the experts not me, its their screw up during their multi point inspection not mine. Manager Robert Castillo informed he shop pretty much that there is nothing they will do even with all the information provided to him confirming they put the wrong size tires on my vehicle. I even gave the shop the repair order number of the inspection report 244450 so he can research it and do right by me.

Worst experience ever! The sales person lied to me about the features the car had and then basically put me in a position to order another car, which was a base model, which I didn’t want. So now I’m stuck with a car I don’t like and paid for a base model car to be shipped here that I also don’t want. What happened to business ethics? I’ve used a CarMax before and I had a great experience the first time. Sadly this will be my last time using CarMax. buyer beware. Make sure the sales person doesn’t lie to you before you sign the paper.

Super friendly and helpful staff only downfall when purchased truck was given to us after supposedly being cleaned/washed it was disgustingly dirty and not cleaned. When you purchase a 35,000 truck I’d expect at least all the bugs would be washed off windshield and inside vacuumed. Detail people definitely slacking.

Review:
Think twice before signing up for the MaxCare plan for your used car. I canceled my MaxCare plan and was supposed to receive a refund of over $1,000, but I still haven’t received it.
I called CarMax twice and sent emails, but nothing helped. All I’ve been told is that the check takes time, it was sent to the wrong address, they will resend it, they will look into it, or they will contact the relevant department.
It has already been two months since I canceled the plan in mid-December. What is going on?

The first car I bought was a lemon, otherwise I'd give 5 stars. However, they ethically and graciously exchanged it for the car I ended up with. And they've done very well with keeping it serviced for little or no cost (I invested in extended warranty).

The staff was great, however the first car that was shipped in a 2018 Cadillac CT6 platinum had a major mechanical failure on the test drive, so I am suspicious of the 125 point inspection, they did refund my shipping fee and offered to ship any other vehicles in, I found a 2019 of the same model, they did ship it at no charge, however the communication on the process was not great, the car did finally arrive and “get ready” but there was not any consideration for my time and the sales manager was not very interested if I really wanted the car or not. I did finally test drive it and I understand they are a “No Haggle” shop but again no consideration for my time and inconvenience, as this is a 50K plus car I really wanted some considerations, they would not budge on the price at all, however Dan the sales manager was very understanding and we worked out some concessions that I felt were acceptable and I purchased the car. Overall the experience was a little frustrating but worked out in the end and the right people ultimately did the right things

Pretty good experience. I HATE car shopping so this was a stress-free way to shop and purchase. There was very good communication throughout the process which was important to me.

After walking around my wife went inside to see about a vehicle that was posted on their website but not in the lot. When she asked about the vehicle the Associate asked sharply “do you have the stock number?” I guess we are supposed do your job for you to find the vehicle. My wife politely responded “no I do not.” The associate found said “it’s in the back under no title I’ll get an associate for you.” We waited around for about 15 minutes and I noticed that 4 associates were at their desks, 2 on the computer (not helping anyone) the other two on their phones scrolling. Several were walking around not really doing anything. An hour and a half later we are home and they decided to contact us. Sorry never recommending.

I had a car on hold at carmax gilbert. I spoke with Hunter, and he said it would be held. I have the e-mails confirming this. I went down to purchase the car and was told it was not held and transferred to a different store. I spoke with a sales manager who said they tried to contact me. Even though they have my correct phone number, they called my old phone number. The interesting thing is that each time they looked up my information they used my correct phone number. The sales manager even accused me of not showing up for my appointment. I did show up I was running late. I actually test drove a Ford Explorer. He refused to take responsibility for their maske. Did not offer any resesolutions. Just kept trying to find every way it was my fault. This is the sales manager that was working with Matt. Please don't shop at carmax gilbert az. I would give them a 0 star if I could.
