Professional dog and cat grooming over 25 + plus years experience, we handle your pets with TLC, all natural products use! Because of my love for animals I began training to be a dog groomer. In April of 1989, I began my training with a private grooming shop. A good groomer starts out as a bather and fluff dryer. This is where a good groomer learns the vital information that will produce beautifully groomed animals. This is also how you learn about the different coats and skin types, what kind of shampoo and conditioner to use as well as how to dry the coats properly. Most cuts are based on A.K.C. regulations and how the particular breeds are to be groomed for shows, but modified for the pet's. Therefore it is imperative to know what the dog or cat that you are to be grooming, is to look like when you have finished. After I learned to bathe and fluff dry, I was advanced to do all the pre-clipping, the de-matting and the brush outs. I also preset all the different pattern clips. I did nails and cleaned ears. I watched the owner groom every chance I got, to ask her lots of questions. She then started teaching me how to do all the finishing. This took six months. I have found that over the years a grooming school only gives a person a 12 week course, then they send you off to be a full fledged groomer which is not the case. There is a lot of great things to be said about a groomer starting out their training in a reputable grooming shop, where you have the opportunity to train under an actual first class groomer. I have owned four salons, two of which I started from scratch. In 1997 I bought a one groomer chop shop and cleaned it up, then renamed it chazlin puppy cuts. I turned this into a five groomer scissor salon known for its quality grooming. We had a reputation for the care we gave the pets, the cleanliness, and the very professional staff. We sold chazlin's in 2002. Grooming is an art and not everyone can sculpture a pet into a beauty. Our goal here is the comfort of your dog or cat, in a low stress environment and send your pet home happy and huggable. For the past five years I have been at this location working along side the doctors and staff at Warner Vista Animal Hospital. Here at Canine Styles and Felines 2, we not only groom your pet; but because we have our hands on your pet, we feel for lumps and bumps. We also look in their ears and check their teeth and gums. When asked by the owner we will express the anal glands.
