It's no wonder why you people are going under.
...
All I needed was one piece of paper printed out. A w-9. And the lady at the register seem to have no knowledge of how to do that and then when she asked someone on her little microphone I can hear the guy say that he was just too busy to help me print out one piece of paper that would have taken all of three or four minutes to do and even if it took 10 minutes. What would have been wrong with that.
....
You people are the worst.

I don’t believe in making customers jump through unnecessary hoops for small tasks. To print a couple documents on card stock, they require 24 hour notice. Logically this doesn’t make any sense, especially when the employees behind the print pickup aren’t actively busy.

Staples off Gilbert definitely has some customer service issues in their copy center. I know customer service can be a hard job but that actually is the job. As soon as I walk up to the copy counter, no hello, how can I help, its are you picking up, if not what ever it is it’s going to take 48 hours. I found her very rude. I took a deep breath and said, you don’t even know what I’m going to ask, she said it doesn’t matter “48 hours”, I said and if I just need 1 copy, “doesn’t matter 48 hours”. I said so you wouldn’t even present me with the opportunity to make my own 1 copy…you could do that, she replied. I said I think I’ll leave now, I’m not really feeling very good service. She did say that she is like that because it’s important to be upfront. I get that but she was cold. She probably really didn’t want to be there but it was 10:00, they just opened and already had an attitude or perhaps, that’s just her. It took me a week to make time to take care of this need. It still wasn’t worth it to do business here.
Taking my business somewhere else. We as consumers have choices.

I recently purchased a chair from this Staples and I was absolutely appalled, and honestly surprised, at how many different mistakes were made during the buying process, from so many different people in so many different departments, on so many different levels. There were numerous mistakes made by the store location, the shippers, the call center employees, and even whoever coded the online order tracker. Every single department at Staples that I dealt with failed or made a mistake at some point in time.
The store wrongly told me on the phone that my order would be ready in 30 minutes and that it just "needed to be pulled". They gave me the false impression that the chair was actually at the physical store location. I waited about an hour and half just to be certain that they had plenty of time to pull the order. I drove six miles to the store only to be told that my order was indeed not at the store. I was told I would receive a phone call when my order was ready to be picked up. No one ever called me even after I confirmed with the manager that they had the correct phone number.
After hearing absolutely nothing for quite a while ,I called the store to see if my order was ready for pickup. They told me they received my order, but the wrong chair was shipped to them. I was told it would be a few more days before they could obtain the chair that I paid for. I was told I would receive a phone call, and surprise surprise, no phone call.
I waited a few days yet again and called the store. My chair was finally ready for pickup, about eight days after the online order tracker said it would be ready. I
also want to make it clear that during this entire process, the order tracker failed to do literally anything it was designed to do. The tracking number never updated, the tracker never indicated when the chair shipped or when it actually arrived at the store. It was just straight up broken.
On top of all of that, when I called customer service, the automated system automatically identified my order from my phone number. However, the customer service employee I spoke with was unable to pull any information on my order up whatsoever. Phone number? Nope, not showing up. Order number? Sorry, not showing up in our system. Name and address, nope, nothing pulling up. Store address? Nope, I can't see anything.
When I finally arrived at the store, Alex the manager was professional and helpful. I received a free 3 year protection plan due to the inconveniences that happened during this extremely annoying process. That was nice, but it's extremely disappointing and almost funny that a company as large as Staples managed to mess up almost every single thing over a simple chair order.
It's safe to say that I won't ever be buying anything from Staples ever again. It's definitely not a surprise to see why Staples is going out of business.

Without question, Staples must still be in business only because of their corporate accounts. Like many other locations, this one is a typically a ghost town, and you may hear crickets if music isn't playing in the background. Only during back-to-school season and Christmastime will you encounter any crowds here. Usually all the cars you see in the parking lot in front of the store are for people at the neighboring TJ Maxx/HomeGoods. But it's hardly surprising that Staples looks to be suffering. Their prices are at highway-robbery level and their selection of items isn't as extensive as it used to be. Looks like the company's whole "work/life" store rebranding isn't exactly giving Staples any more life and it's not really "working". On the plus side, no crowds equals a quieter shopping experience and the employees are pleasant. Not my favorite place for my office/stationery needs anymore...but I give three stars because of the friendly workers who maintain their good attitudes despite the circumstances.

Thought i’d try out Staples, because they are closer. Wow! That was the worst experience! Unprofessional, short, unhelpful!
I’ll go the distance for Office Max.
Shesh… 😅

Self serve printer w no paper and doesn’t accept all cards is crazy. It’s 2024. I shouldn’t have to buy a gift card to print some papers. Not impressed. 0/10. Will go to somewhere else next time.

Lady at the print shop deva or whatever was extremely rude from the very beginning. I didn’t even say anything and she gave me attitude. Should not be working if it makes her mad

What a joke. Went in this location to do an Amazon return. The second I walked up a manger type in glasses said they were behind on packaging and it would be about 15-20 minutes. I’m sorry? You scan two barcodes, so I waited. Instead of helping the girl he went and did go backs. Is that more important than helping her catch up? I stood there for 20 minutes for a 30 second transaction. Absolutely awful. Won’t be back. Get a grip dude.

I guess it’s convenient but all the simple stuff is marked up like crazy $12 for a tiny thing of Post-it notes.
The print counter wanted to charge me three dollars per cut when I said that’s fine. She said she couldn’t do it now because she had a line of one person.

I chose Staples because they offered same day service in printing of return labels. The receipt i signed said the labels would be ready by 7:30pm that day. I returned 10:30am the following day to pick up the labels only to find out they weren't ready. When asked when they would be ready, the store rep said they would call me and that it may be a couple more hours until they were ready. So much for same day service.

Well people at this location weren't able to help me at all or offer any sort of a solution for me but made the comment that all I wanted done made sense. Thanks for that.
All I wanted was my boat/jet ski paperwork laminated I'll add that i purchased copies of these documents out of your store less the 1min from asking for the additional service on the copy's NOT THE ORIGINALS.
I tried to explain I'm tired of making copies just for them to get water damage and be unable to read. I then went on to explain if I ever needed to produce the information on the lake it would be nice to have the peace of mind knowing I have them laminated given 15 times now I've had to get them copied because them being messed up having fun on the lake. ( Lack of storage space on the boats, 2 compartments. One holds ropes other towels/beach gear. All of this gets wet/damp at some point hence the reason for protecting the information from the elements)
I got a story/run around by two employees saying they can't touch government documents. Respectfully in my opinion the first one didn't know enough about what they were talking about and the other employee just asked me what the other had told me then just backed them. In a way that made me feel kinda brushed off.
I went to another of your locations explained all this and asked about this policy and there was some truth to what was said but they were wrong from what I was told at the other location. They informed me that they can't handle ORIGINAL government documents and that mine being copies with no hand writing on FULL size paper to be laminated is perfectly reasonable but no.
I did get the copies laminated, staples is great GILBERT STAPLES NEEDS WORK, at very least a retrain on there customer service and understanding of there "policy". At the other location I even was offered a solution if laminating was something I wanted to do myself. I didn't purchase it but it was nice to see an employee trying and doing there part for the customer just as much as they were for the company.
Gilbert staples gave me a I don't care attitude with a sheep like mentality definitely WONT BE GOING TO THIS LOCATION IN THE FUTURE! I like people who give a crap actually helping me and this experience has me questioning if I continue to get my business signs, cards, pens and other advertising done by this company. There's zero consistency and I'm very disappointed.

My wife returned to car as we were at Staples in Gilbert, she was upset with assistance for help in simply getting 3 copies made and no one was available, perhaps store was busy, but she got into conversation with a Mgr, Shane or Shawn and he was very condescending and said she'd have to return without at least offering help from himself or another associate. My wife is very Patient and vows to not return to that particular store with that Mgr..

The customer service was really good, the associate was helpful. However, they didn't carry the mechanical pencils I have purchased in the past. I did get an office chair.
