This is a wonderful rescue organization. Mary, one of the volunteers, is an angel on earth. She is wonderful with not only the dogs but also with the people who want to adopt.

I adopted my little Annie, a Maltese, through Help a Dog Smile about a month ago. They made the process easy, and brought Annie to my home to check it (and me) out. Annie stayed and has been with me ever since. They gave me as much information about her as they could, both from the Humane Society and their experience fostering her. It was a very good experience, and I appreciate how they care for the dogs.

I wish I could leave 0 stars. This is the WORST group of people I have ever tried to adopt from. We wanted to adopt the sweet little guy Oliver. I contacted them right when the ad was posted & kind of rudely they sent a message saying I lived too far from them... maybe 80 miles. Then she finally said ok we need to do a home check by fFaceTime which we scheduled the next day. Then the woman Mary said the interviewer was worried we would leave him outside alone?? Don’t know where that can from. We have 3 other small dachshund mix rescues. We got past that, then he had to meet all our dogs. Told her we would come down the next day... NOPE she had no place for them to meet. Next she said she would bring him to us on Saturday which was cancelled due to bad storm supposedly, and told probably the next weekend. I messaged her everyday & nothing, finally said she can’t talk till after 6pm... waiting again nothing... for 5 day... then today she said no we will adopt him to someone more local with a :)So sad, disappointing & extremely rude!! It makes me so sad that someone who claims to be taking care of animals can be so cruel and unkind as this woman was.

Honestly The best experience rescuing my little one ! The most caring people work for this agency!I’m so impressed that these dogs are in the best hands and will be successful where they get their forever homes because of this group of amazing caretakers and fosters ! I love the fact each dog is fostered and not caged . I also appreciate the careful chosen families so the dogs are loved in the new home . I’m grateful I found HADS and will adopt from them always !! Thank you for all you do !! I will continue to donate monthly and refer to HADS !

Help a Dog Smile is a small, entirely volunteer-driven organization. From finding and accepting dogs, to locating and vetting new forever homes, to helping families who are struggling find ways to keep their pets with them, to grant writing to fund medical needs, and everything related to running a non-profit, Help a Dog Smile (HADS) is run by only volunteers.Yes, their vetting process is strict, because they want to place animals with the right family for both the family and the animal. Once you become a HADS adopter, the people with HADS will support you and your pet for life and that is not an exaggeration. When I hit a rough patch, they stepped in to help me and when I got back on my feet, they were there to celebrate with me. If you are frustrated with the process, please remember: no one makes any money from this, they do it only the for joy of knowing a pet is in a forever home and it’s the right forever home, for everyone.

This is a wonderful organization dedicated to helping animals! Our little 5 pound Ruby was found living on the streets of downtown Phoenix; and had to be trapped she was so terrified of people. Becky took her in and worked to gain her trust.Becky was responsive and easy to work with. She drove an hour to our home to ensure it was safe for little Ruby. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this rescue and would work with them again.

I have to say that this organization is awesome. Not only do they help pets find homes so they can live long, happy lives, they also screen adoption applicants - helping to assure these four-legged friends are going to an optimal environment. Keep in mind, some of these dogs have been abandoned, possibly abused in the past. And as custodians, they just want to know adopters can give them a good life. (When you adopt a child, prospective parents are also subject to a review process for similar reasons.) If an applicant has concerns about the screening process, then perhaps they aren't the right people to adopt rescue dogs. To me, that's a red-flag. I adopted Max, my Chihuahua mix a few years ago and he's been such a perfect addition to our family. We love him to pieces and he's a great guard dog! He's five years old now and he loves to bask in the sunshine on the back patio.. that is, when he's not snoring on the couch, LOL. If you're interested in adoption, it's so rewarding. Even having to go through a qualification process is worth the effort. Instead of being offended, we should be happy that this organization cares so much to include this diligence process so these these pets get a fresh new start. I am happy that the screening process is in place, otherwise Max may never have found his forever home.

Very very happy with our latest addition to the family adopted from Help A Dog Smile! The foster was quick to respond to my query about Daisy and we scheduled a meet & greet nearby with our family & furbabies. Everyone meshed so Daisy came home after her spay. Months later and we're all very happy with the experience and level of care that Help A Dog volunteers took to make sure we were a good fit.

This is probably one of my favorite places to foster from and help when I’m able too! I’ve fostered close to 10 dogs here so far. They provide everything you need, such as food, pee pads, medical. If you’re thinking of fostering, go for it! You won’t be disappointed. Everyone is kind, and does what’s best for the dogs!!!

Best rescue my family has adopted dogs from. We had such a great experience with our first that we adopted a second pupper during COVID to add to the pack. Extremely impressed by the facility they keep their dogs in. It’s called Heidis Village and I really haven’t seen such a large beautiful rescue facility like this one before with spacious meet and greet dog rooms, a doggie water park, many walking paths and a staff including vets. The Help A Dog Smile representatives Jamie was nice enough to show us around and even gave us a chance to walk and play with the dogs we are interested in. Mary was able to give us a history of where they rescued each dog from and what the caretakers at the facility had notated as essentially the training or skills the dogs already knew and what each dog needed to work on which definitely will help in our selection process. They also require a home check, are a NO KILL rescue and have any and all breeds. Happy to see rescues like this one going above and beyond to make sure it’s the right fit for not only us but the dog.

The great people at this rescue are dedicated to the animals in their care. I adopted Bailey from Becky over a year ago and she and I stay in touch and i enjoy her visits very much! Bailey is soooooo excited when his "other" mom comes over!
