Not only did the battery die in the truck we rented, but the truck looked like it was speed cleaned. Barely cleaned at all. Then, a month later I get a letter in the mail, we got hit with a $125 cleaning fee for pet hair, which is weird cuz we didn't have pets in the car. The pictures they showed of the "light damage" was literally a few fuzzy strings, and it was unclear that it even came from the vehicle we rented. Customer care was a joke, and I will never rent from Avis again.

We visited Avis/Budget office at 6650 Superstition Country Inn to change our Car rental. Mr Bob J was friendly and professional operator and he modified our car rental in 10 minutes. We recommend this Avis/Budget office in Phoenix!

Looks like there’s similar reviews about this same thing- very dishonest and will steal your money. We booked a rental car to drive from salt lake to Phoenix. The return date was for Sunday at 4pm. My husband dropped off the car and went inside. Since the Avis is connected to a hotel the manager said they would take the keys to return. We got a charge from Avis that was almost the same price as our booking price and when we called in they said we returned the car late. When we sent them all the information showing we returned the car on time, they said the drop off location was closed and so it was our fault and we wouldn’t get any money back.If this is the case, they should not allow a drop off time for 4pm on a Sunday when customers do the initial booking. And if you are connected to a hotel then the hotel people should not be taking keys and making it seem like a normal drop off. Very disappointed. Very dishonest. They never notified us of an additional charge and made it clear we would not be getting our money back. And it was the same price as our original booking for 3 days? Terrible customer service. We will never use this company again.

This car rental franchise is the most unethical disgusting organization I’ve ever interacted with. I rented a car for a two day trip, where we stayed in the city, and did only used the car to drive a few destinations. I was charged a 450 cleaning fee! I am not a smoker, and the car was cleaned out before I delivered it back. This is absolutely criminal and ridiculous. This franchisee thinks that he can steal money from people without them noticing. This is going to be reported, and I highly recommend nobody use this absolute farce of a rental service.

Friendly service, car is always ready. If I have issues with a car, they quickly take care of it or swap out cars.

What an amazing experience. I usually expect to get harassed by car rental places but this was by far the easiest transaction ever! I spent maybe 30 seconds checking in and again at drop off. The car was clean, the price was great, and everything was so easy. I’ll go out of my way to rent from here again.

Reserved a car for my vacation in Arizona. My flight came in at 2:30pm. Made it to Avis and they had closed at 1pm! None of this was mentioned when I reserved the car and they had my flight times. Lost a night in my air bnb and had to get a hotel close to Avis so I could pick it up in the morning. Picked my car up in the morning. I explained to the guy that I lost a day of rental so it should not be as much as originally quoted. He had no explanation for this. I would have just rented from another provider but this was spring break week and there was no cars available. After I left Avis with my car my credit card alerted me that an extra $300 was charged to my card. Tried to call them back, no answer. When I Returned the car he told me that was a deposit but this was no mentioned at pick up. Also since I brought it back at 1pm they charged me for an extra day! Do not recommend this company at all!

Liars and cheats. I rented a car that hadn't been washed or cleaned inside or out. Still found candy wrappers from the last occupant. Went to turn the car in but they closed the office early so I slid the paperwork under the door and turned the keys in to the hotel manager. They overcharged me $264, never sent me a receipt or made any attempt to justify the charge. I had to contact them myself and customer service but they maintained they were there. Maybe they were but the door was locked.I have been a preferred member for years but I will never rent from this disgusting outfit ever again.

No one ever seems to be in the office. It was an issue both picking up and dropping off. Thankfully I wasn’t in a rush to the airport on the way home.

I rented a vehicle from my a local Avis office in Central California for my wife and teenage daughter. who were driving to Mesa Arizona, approximately 800 miles away. At approximately 11:30 at night, two lights on the vehicle’s dashboard illuminated. Mesa was still several hours away and my wife was very nervous the car would break down in the Arizona desert. She text me around 2am and told me another light on the dashboard had come on but then went off but they had made it to their destination.I contacted my local office early the next morning and the agent told me to have my wife take it to an Avis branch and they would happily switch her out of the car. That morning my wife went to the nearest office located on Superstition and was greeted by Jill.Jill inspected the car light and quickly identified it as only a maintenance light and determined that there was nothing really wrong with the car. She refused to exchange my wife into another vehicle and offered to reset the light without actually inspecting the car. Jill told my wife she had no cars and directed her another Avis located on Country Club Dr. See that branch’s review for our experience at that location. My wife called me as she left the office and told me what had occurred and that she was driving to another branch.I called the Superstition branch and spoke with Jill. Jill is seems is quite confident with her ability to reset a vehicle’s illuminated maintenance light. She told me the car would be fine since if she reset the light but would not guarantee it would make it back to California without any issues.I asked Jill for the name of the area or branch manager. Jill told me she could not provide me with that information because it was confidential. This was the same answer I was given another location. I later learned the person who apparently oversees both offices is Mo Johnson.Mo Johnson has worked for Avis since December of 1989. She is currently the Territory Performance Manager for the Avis Group. I had interactions with two of her employees, Jill and Alan. Both were quick to point out they could reset a maintenance light. Both basically told my wife that the issue was not their problem and pointed to another office. When I asked to speak with Mo Johnson, I was told she was aware of the situation and would not talk with me. I was also told her business phone number was confidential.I can only guess why Ms. Johnson would not want to speak with a customer who has an issue and why her information is confidential. Maybe she is in witness protection or dodging a debt owned to a loan sharks. I can only guess she was possibly too busy training new employees how to reset the maintenance lights on vehicles, or how to pass the problem onto someone else.Ms. Johnson has worked for Avis since 1989 and has worked her way up the corporate ladder. It seems has forgotten it’s her job at times as a supervisor at times is to deal with unhappy customers. Ms. Johnson, if you cannot handle speaking to unhappy customers then get out of the retail business. Have some courage to do your job. Quit hiding behind a shield of confidentiality and have your minions fight you battles.Three hours later my wife finally got another vehicle at the airport. I would avoid this branch and the one on Country Club Dr if possible. If you are in the Mesa area and your car’s maintenance light comes on, then Alan at the Country Club location is your man. Alan apparently prides himself as a bit of an “Car Whisper” and possess Jedi like powers that able him to reset a vehicle’s maintenance light faster than a NASCAR pit crews can change the tires on a stock car. Nervous? Don’t be, Alan proudly boasted he is very knowledgeable about car maintenance lights. Without actually check fluid levels or conducting any further inspections, Alan will get your car ready for the Arizona desert. He even guarantees his work. But if you do break down in the Arizona desert, have that roadside number handy.

My dad died and I was trying to rent a car. Had my reservation paid for through pay pal. I get to the place to pick up my car i dont have a good enough card the guy doesn't even try to run it. I have well over 100,000 dollars in that account and basically I missed my dads funeral and they arent going to refund the money. I thought all they needed was a the card I paid through pay pal. That what your terms say. Avis I am going to see that everybody I know doesn't ever use you guys again. My brother and uncle use you guy quite a bit. Not any more.
