LET DOWN!: After seeing an Instagram foodie's review, I came here with the expectation that their soup dumpling were superb! However, the experience was quite the opposite. The soup dumplings were bland! 30$ for something so subpar :(The 10$ frozen soup dumplings from Trader Joes have more flavor!!

I know it’s hard to get Xiao Long Bao or Sheng Jian Bao, but the quality of them here are just average — nothing compared to coastal food but definitely not bad either.

XLB and Dan Dan Noodles are our top favorite. Each time we visit there will be a tower (3) orders of the XLB. It’s much better than Ding Tai Fung by a long shot! Will continue to give our support to this awesome local business.

I don't know what happened to this place. New manager? Cutting back due to inflation? When it first opened the xiao long bao were the best I'd had outside Shanghai. Not now. They tasted like water. I was sitting in the communal area because we ordered other terrible food at another place. They served it unnecessarily in to-go containers. Same with the spicy beef. It was awful. And I had to use the rice bowl from the other restaurant just to eat it. Ratios were all off and things were cooked over and under. None of it was right, and it tasted like plastic and chlorine. I threw it all in the garbage. I'm done with Mekong Market restaurants. I don't know, the place seems to be going downhill.

The pan-fried buns are quite authentic and have the feel of domestic private-house cuisine, but at $15 before tax, they still feel a bit expensive.

Saw pics of their spicy beef noodle soup and I had to try it. The meat was so tender, broth so flavorful, and noodles so good. Spice was on point. One of the best beef noodle soup I’ve had. Their xiao long bao was also fantastic.

So good. Clean, fresh, busy, unique. If you come here with someone and they don't like it, there are several options for other restaurants in the plaza. Communal seating nearby for all the restaurants to share. Vegetarian options. Best of Phoenix award. Well deserved.

“Handmade from the freshest….” IS A LIE. Ordered chili wontons and chili dumplings to eat in the plaza. Chili dumplings were lukewarm the chili wontons were COLD. The chili wontons looked like the frozen ones in the grocery store next door. It was definitely not “handmade from the freshest …..” as stated in their website. When I asked for refund, the girl gave me 9 dollars cash. Even though the dish costs 8.99 and I was charged for tax and gave them 20% tips when I ordered the food. After I voiced my opinion she GRABBED money from my hand told me she would refund my money and charge me chili dumplings that I kept. She proceeded to tell me I should pay with debit card because the minimum charge for credit card is 10. I was stunned with her attitude. She reluctantly took my credit payment and told me :”I wish you have a great day!” WOW !!! What kind of customer is this??? Sold me a COLD defrosted chili wontons in a restaurant stating “handmade from fresh……” grabbed money from my hand, told me “wish you had a good day “.Please walk few more steps to “Hong’s Kitchen “just kitty corner from Happy Bao. All dishes in “Hong’s Kitchen” ARE TRULY HANDMADE.

Small place in Mekong Plaza in Mesa. The best bao’s, dumplings and noodles around. Everything is made to order and comes out hot and fresh. It’s usually crowded but you can leave a number and wander around for 15-20 mins is the most I’ve had to wait for a table.Parking: Huge parking lot but can be busy.

Absolutely loved the bao buns! I tried a combo of 3 different types as well as so pork dumplings. Their sauces are delicious to dip both the bao and the dumplings in. I also loved the hot tea, nearly drank the whole kettle by myself. I will be back for sure!
