Car was perfect for my family. I really appreciate that we had the option to get a carseat so we didn’t have to worry about that. Price was great and customer service was even better forgot my phone in the center console and Dre from mesa gate way airport was really cool about the situation and helpful made it so easy for me to recover it with me being in my home state kansas already. A heavy weight was immediately lifted off my shoulders when I spoke to him.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Absolutely terrible customer service. We rented a 7 person car and even paid for it a month in advance. Upon arriving to Hertz, they refused to give us the car we wanted because “the system should not have let us rent it due to our age.” Why does your website let us book AND pay for it then? We were then offered a 5 person car with NO DISCOUNT OR MONEY BACK. The 7 person car we rented was way more expensive, and they refused to compensate us and instead CHARGED US MORE. This whole ordeal lasted an hour and a half of talking/waiting. What a ridiculous, embarrassing company. Avoid Hertz at all costs—save yourself.

Our group had our reservation for nearly 6 months prior to our trip. We landed about 8 p.m. and received a text, while still in the air, that Hertz had no vehicles available. We thought it was a mistake and since we couldn't go anywhere else, we went to the Hertz desk. We were told that they were completely out of vehicles, not a one. No assistance to obtain a vehicle from off-site Hertz locations, other arrangements from car rental companies, ..., just "we don't have any vehicles." With 2.5 hrs. to our final destination this did not sit well with us as it's late and we were stuck. Another client, apparently a President's Circle member, came up and they had three choices of vehicle for him. However, they wanted to charge him $75 additional dollars a day for a vehicle, because they didn't have exactly the vehicle he requested. They then reiterated to us that they had no vehicles left. After obtaining a vehicle from another rental company, at 4X the daily cost (scam at the rental car companies?) we walked to the car lots. OMG, Hertz had almost 20 cars on their lot. We will NOT ever use Hertz anywhere again!

DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!! On Feb. 15 we arrived t the Mesa airport, on our way to Sedona. Two days previous, we received an email confirming our 6 passenger vehicle was ready. Upon landing we got a text saying they were out of cars!! Our group of six was 2.5 hours from our VRBO and no way to get there. Soon after a heated conversation with the clown behind the counter, another man walked up and was offered four different vehicles because he was in the "presidents club."! I asked the Hertz rep why can he have a choice of four vehicles, yet we get nothing?? No answer! We did go to Avis and they had a couple vehicles for us BUT charged us $800.00, three times the rate of $256.00 their website showed. Sounds like a big scam by both companies! Hertz SUCKS!!

Absolutely the WORST experience. Reserved a car 3 months ago and show up at the counter tonight for them to say ‘we have no cars, come back tomorrow morning’. Our hotel is over 30 minutes away. It honestly felt like a Seinfeld episode. The manager Cheston is completely clueless and unprofessional in both appearance and demeanor. DO NOT RENT FROM HERTZ AT MESA AIRPORT!

The worst experience I have ever had to deal with. I picked up my car on Feb 9th and noticed a very obvious smoking smell within the vehicle, didn’t think anything of it knowing whomever drove the car before me definitely smoked in the vehicle. When we dropped off the vehicle on Feb 14th, my receipt was delivered 10 minutes after i left and a whopping $400 dollar cleaning fee was applied to my account!! Hertz stated the previous drivers didn’t have that charge, so it had to be an employee at hertz that smoked in the vehicle! I am absolutely in shock the way Hertz has been treating me trying to dispute this charge, when I have never in my life smoked nor drove with anyone that did. I need someone from this Hertz location to get in contact with me ASAP. Never ever rent from this location and beware of this scammy business.

Wanted to talk to someone about renting a truck and trailer to bring a car back from California. We had been told that's how we had to do it. Instead I got someone who couldn't speak English who told me that we couldn't do that, rent a truck and trailer, and at that point I had to hang up because I couldn't even understand what she was saying. It seems like the one person doesn't know what the second person is doing, and on top of that English is a second or third language. Very frustrating

A total of $450 in excess charges, including a $100 car wash fee, i have rented with many car rental companies and never charged such a charge. Disputing and not coming back. No parking lot attendant present when vehicle dropped off to discuss charges.

TELEPHONE MENU IS IMPOSSIBLE!!!I just needed to ask a question. At a day and time that they were open. I got an endless menu designed to avoid a person in the location from getting calls. It worked. I tried choosing every option, even when it was not my intended reason, there was no way I was getting to a person. Eventually, the menu just said "Goodbye", and hung up on me. I am a Gold Status member!I called back and got the same thing.So I called Enterprise. I got my question answered in 2 seconds. Then I rented from them. Easy-Peasy!

Don't do it even if they are cheaper! I rented a car through Hertz and received a confirmation number. When I arrived to pick up said car, was told they did not have any cars.... Hertz response to this... bummer, come back soon!

Booked a rental for a day to explore. The pick up process and smooth & easy and same goes for the drop off process. The staff working on the desk were very easy to work with. Only downside I've faced was the car they gave me, the Buick Encore did smelled a little weird and they could have done a better job cleaning it.

Reserved a rental over a month agoIn Mesa at Hertz. Our plane arrived on time and when we got to the counter they told us they didn't have a car for us and to be quite honest they didn't even care. So we rented a vehicle from enterprise right next to them and they had the paperwork done and us on our way in 10 minutes. We contacted our bank and put a stop payment on the money the theives had already taken. Contact your bank because you can't get anyone on the phone numbers they give you. I recommend no one does any business with Hertz. And if you do good luck. The BBB is going to hear about this experience also.
