This place is very nice.
But!
That restaurant is off. My prime rib sandwich was very sour tasting. My wife ordered the chili wasn't really that good. Heard a lady say they have the best burgers. Than bun was good. But it seemed frozen Patty.

We stayed at Kohl's Ranch Lodge for our anniversary. It was so much more than we expected! Jenn D. greeted us upon check-in, she was so helpful, informative and kinda. We had breakfast in the dinning room on our first morning. Brandi was our server. She was attentive and pleasant. We enjoyed dinner in the saloon one evening with Shayla as our bartender. She was fun and efficient! I even got to reunite with a former co-worker, Patrick who is the lead cook in the kitchen. The margarita pizza was so fresh and delicious. DO NOT SKIP the jalapeno poppers! They are amazing! Planning on coming back for my husband's birthday! Thank you Kohl's Ranch Lodge for an amazing anniversary weekend.

Got in late. Woman at counter was about as friendly as a Gila monster. The room was advertised on Booking @100. Taxes and fees took that to 117. Then walk in and get dinged with an additional 21 dollar "resort fee", THEN, as if that weren't enough, how about a 200 dollar "Security Deposit", in case you smoke in the room...but wait, you can't smoke outside because the National Forest clowns have "fire restrictions" in place, even though it's monsoon season and there's flash flood warnings up.
What would we do without so much Government.
The room was small, the carpet smelled musty. The furniture and shower was nice, but the bathroom was the size of a phone booth.
The bed was clean and comfortable...I slept 10 hours straight. It would've been good sleep, except the antique "wall shaker AC unit which was LOUD, and didn't cool the room well, unless running constantly.
Never again.

What a nice surprise. I've driven past this location for 30 years without stopping in. I assumed that becuase it is old, it would show its age and be a bit "worn". Far from, the property is beautiful, extremely well cared for, and great all around. Our efficiency room was very clean and completely stocked with everything I would need for a much longer stay. I will surely be back soon to get away from the Phoenix summer heat.

Stunning location and Lodge. The rooms are large and roomy with appliances. Studios, cabins, large and small. Surrounded with nature, birds, squirrels and peaceful. Nice stream running along the property. Restaurant on property but was closed the day we were there. Just a nice relaxing place 17 miles outside of Payson I would stay there again.

We were unable to make a specific reservation. Having travelled to see it, we found several cabins we liked near the stream at which they could place us. They said no one can specify which lodging they will have. We did not stay there.

Always a great place to stay near Payson. Lots to do and friendly staff. Two bedroom cabin for 6 with only one bathroom not recommended.

Very disappointed. 1 bedroom unit, the bedroom was so small there wasn't even enough room for a nightstand. Old outdated and in bad need of demolition. Paid $435 your one night. Expected at least comfortable accommodations. Staff was rude and unapologetic. Bet they had a better night's rest than I did. Thanks Heather...
Noteworthy details: Stay in the main building. Avoid the crappy old cabins at all cost. Better off staying at Majestic Mountain Inn down the road in Payson.

Lady at the front desk has a attitude. Rooms are definitely not worth 187 dollars and the a 200 deposit and 21 something for junk fees. Lol classless people in a classy place imagine that.

The "resort fee" isn't listed on any of the 3rd party sites and you get charged 21 dollars extra. Also no breakfast in the morning even though its listed as such which is disappointing and its only Friday Saturday Sunday they so. So when you're searching price wise take that into account. Also check in and out times are 10 and 4 which is absurd and I've stayed at a lot of hotels and that's a 1st. 100$ fee for late checkouts so I woke up and felt rushed to pack and leave. Staff is amazing and very sweet. Probably wouldn't stay again unless I wasn't having to check in later on a weekend. Staff great but policies are ?
