Varney Park is a nice neighborhood park described as clean, safe, and peaceful. The park offers a variety of amenities including a good basketball court, a baseball diamond, and multi-purpose fields used by local softball and football teams. For children, there is a covered playground with equipment, though it lacks lighting at night. The park also features a couple of covered shelters with grills and picnic tables available for rental, a splash pad, a dog park on the north side, and a fishing pond, though the pond has algae and trash. Restrooms are public but are sometimes locked and lack soap, and can be gross. While generally clean and a place where memories are made, the park occasionally has homeless people pass through and some creepos at night, with a typical group of teenagers who keep to themselves.
