This visitor center is better hidden than most as it's towards the back of the complex but the rangers inside were helpful and willing to share all sorts of information and answer any questions thrown at them. They have some gifts and trinkets to take home that are well priced. There is a gift shop, gas pumps, and a cafe closer to the parking lot with nice people as well but the rangers have all the park info you could want

The visitor center itself is more of your standard visitor center at alot of the national parks.Plenty of information and tons of trinkets for those looking to bring back souvenirs. The painted desert though is pretty cool to see. Highly recommend the rim trail for spectacular views. If you go later when the sun is setting it will cast some pretty colors on the desert.

Dont like my tax dollars being used to spew ficticious non scientific fairy tale nonsense. It would be nice if they would simply say check out these cool things here's what we have uncovered. Leave the foolish stories for fiction books. If someone chooses to brainwash their own children with the stupidity of evolution let them do it on their own. The gov't has no business pushing agenda like that.

Really cool national park! I didn’t know trees could turn to stone! ? It was fun to learn about the fossilized trees and walk among them behind the visitor center! We drove the park road after to see the rest of the park. Unfortunately, I couldn’t hike in the park due to limited time and the park closes by sunset. It is definitely worth checking out if you’re in the neighborhood!

Nice information for Petrified Forest National Park. The lady ranger explaining the park and giving us good pointers for exploring and photography was very helpful. The Navajo Taco at the food court was decent.

The park itself is beautiful and wonderful, but the staff in the NP visitor center need some training in customer service.

I’m giving the park itself 4 stars but if I could give the visitor center any stars I wouldn’t. The lady with short hair at the visitor center was rude. She was bothered that I was looking at the shirts. I wanted to buy a shirt for my sister as a Christmas present, but I noticed the lady was breathing down my neck as I was looking at the shirts. She noticed that I unfolded a shirt and started to fix it right away as I was standing there. It almost felt like she was bothered that I was looking at the shirts. I don’t understand why they have these type of people working in customer service.

23/10 Visited Painted Desert Visitor Center to check in for overnight camping. We did not actually visit the painted desert or indigenous villages. We plan on a future visit where can do those visits RIGHT!

I spent a few minutes talking to the staff here and getting a good plan together of where I was going to take my dog. Incredibly knowledgeable staff, with plenty of great suggestions.

Well thanks too some WILDLY strong peyote that a native American gentleman gave me I ended up wondering in the desert for many hours chasing my spirit animal to help give me insight on the best way to get back to my hotel room.... Yes it was very spiritual

This was a great start to our journey through the Petrified Forest. There are two gift shops. The one in the back has different items. The larger one connected to the snack shop has much larger selection. Definitely suggest stopping in to watch the film. There are restrooms inside and outside that are available. Pictures are from stop #1 of 12 when entering the park from this location. You do need a National Park’s pass to enter beyond this visitor center.

This place is like visiting another planet! Trees made from stone never ceases to amaze me.Probably not for young children. In the end it is rocks.
