After paying my complete note. They reopened my account and are saying I owe 650 dollars because there was a 60 dollar charged kicked back. I have the receipts and they are still trying to get over on me. Do not use this company there is nothing American about them.

As previous reviewers noted,I also fell victim to this company. Before I ever got to see their loan paperwork or agree to anything, they charged me $55 app processing fee as soon as I walked into the furniture store, lol. I immediately canceled everything but in order to get a refund of the "app fee", they said the furniture company had to cancel the contract. Why? They weren't issuing credit! Got my money back but will NEVER consider using this company in the future.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!!!Charged me $50 as an "app fee", then revealed the terms of their ridiculous loan (that only a fool would accept). I refused the loan, they promised to refund the $50 in 3-5 business days, 15 or more days passed with no refund, I call to have it refunded they tell me I have to call the merchant and have them cancel the sale. There was never a sale that involved American First. American First did no business with the merchant or myself. Why would they need to cancel anything on their end??? This was all part of their run around game. The same one the major banks and credit cards play. It's bad unethical business. After several holds and transfers with their Caribbean call center I got to some department with a guy named "Brian" and he was the one to inform me of my assignment to call the merchant and have them cancel the sale that never existed with AFF. Shortly there after I informed him that I opened a claim with my bank and immediately he was able to refund my $50 and I mean within minutes. They don't want that kind of investigation done on their malevolent business. How would they stay in business?!?!STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!PS: This is the correct business. Don't lie again and try to say my review is for another unrelated business.

Horrible service! Was suppose to pay off in 90 days with them automatically drafting was told 2 different stories! First one they tried drafting it didn’t come out even though same account from 2 previous payments. Second excuse was I was suppose to call in to make the last payment to keep in 90 day window same as cash! Worst customer service I’ve ever had! Never use these people as they are very negative and unhelpful. Liars!

Beware of this creditor, you may be entering a legally binding contract in which is the equivalent of loan sharking. Example... I was approved for a $3000 purchase of some furniture. I bought approximately $2800 worth of furniture. I already had the intention of paying this off within 30-45 days, as I was going to make a down payment and was waiting for a deposit for the remaining money to pay the balance off... Was informed that I could not make a down payment at the time of purchase. Several days later I received my copy of the contract via email. 14 days later, charged roughly $200 against my account... Logged into my AFF account to check the balance... it was still 100% of the purchase price. None of the payments went towards the purchase price. It was at that time, I become aware, this was in fact a lease payment. This meant on top of the $200/bi-weekly payment, I was going to have to pay additional money towards the account that was specifically towards the purchase price. So if I spent 28 days to pay $2800 towards the purchase price, I was also going to pay $400 on top of that towards "Lease Payments", PLUS $100 for the early pay-off fee. So a $2800 purchase cost me $3300 or an extra $500 over the first 30 days. And if I don't get that $2800 paid off within 28 days, it will cost me an additional $200 for every 14 days the account is not paid off, and if it's not paid off within 110 days from the date of purchase, the early payoff is not any longer an option and you're locked into "leasing" for additional 21 months or 42+1 payments of $200. SO your options are: Within 28 days= $2800 + $400 + $100 = $3300 total Payoff using full 110 days = $2800 + $1200 leasing fees + $100 total: $4100 Full Leasing term(24 months): Approximately $9,600 Luckily for me, I have the means to liquidate some things and pay this off within the first 28 days. Most may hastily think this is traditional financing. And those that do, will place themselves in a situation that could effectively make them a slave for 24 months to a $400/mo payment for a living room or bedroom suite. If they are not capable of making $1500/Mo payments within the first 110 days to cover the "lease payment" and whittle the purchase amount down before the 110 days expires. Which Most are not going to be able to weather that.

Prior to submitting the loan application I called to verify that there was an option to select a lower amount if the amount approved was more than the ask. The representative confirmed. After submitting the application online, there was no option to select an amount. I then called and spoke with 5 representatives who had a language barrier and kept placing me on 5-10 minute holds. This carried on for hours. Finally someone stated to contact FinWise who is the company that loans the money. After speaking with a wonderful rep at Finwise who then called American First Finance on a conference call, we were being transferred to a manager for American Fisrt Finance then the call ended. I then got in touch with the credit department who stated that it is too late in the day and they can no longer lower the approved amount nor cancel the loan altogether. I asked if I could return the funds immediately when received and was told there would be a fee still owed for $175. Overall this was a horrible experience. If you are looking for an amount lower than what is being offered, you do not have the option.

I am financing a bed from American freight and was set contracts from American First Finance that were already signed but not by me. I received a confirmation email from DocUSign stating contracts were signed on a date I was never on the website. The representatives I talked to from American First Finance said contracts can be signed without a customer’s knowledge or without them looking at the contracts, which sounds ridiculous To me. After waiting on 25 minute hold to speak with a supervisor, she confirmed my number and said she would call back if the call got disconnect. Call was disconnected and no callback. I had to call American First Financing back, to be put on another hold for a supervisor.
