The Arizona Capitol Museum Store is located inside the historic State Capitol building, which houses a free museum with four floors of artifacts, stories, pictures, and rotating art and history exhibits. Visitors can tour on their own or take a guided tour to learn fun facts and see the original office of the governor, portraits of governors past, a model railroad running through Arizona scenes, the beautiful tile state seal, and artifacts recovered from the USS Arizona. The facility is very nice, well-maintained, and full of information. It is an amazing, free experience that families enjoy, aided by a scavenger hunt for children. Helpful and knowledgeable volunteers are present throughout. The museum is informative, with detailed exhibits on each floor allowing visitors to spend a few hours or do a quicker visit in about an hour. The building also provides access to see the Senate and House of Representatives chambers, even during renovation, and is adjacent to the Wesley Bolin Plaza with its many monuments and memorials. Parking is free in a lot, though it can be a bit hard to find the correct entrance due to construction, with one entrance requiring security screening. It is a recommended visit, especially when the weather is comfortable.
Go see this amazing, free experience! It was full of information! Our family really enjoyed this experience. The scavenger hunt for the kiddos helped keep them engaged during our time there.
