Hours: ASH provides long-term inpatient psychiatric care to Arizonans with mental illnesses who are under court order for treatment. The hospital operates programs within a 260-bed funded facility, is accredited by The Joint Commission, and the Civil Hospital is certified to receive reimbursement from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Patients are admitted only on an involuntary basis pursuant to a court order due to the severity of their mental illness or behavioral disorder and an inability to be successfully treated in a community facility, as a result of their involvement in the criminal justice system, and/or their propensity to pose an imminent risk to public safety should they be released to the community.
