This is the headquarters for Desert Financial Credit Union so I am leaving this review for the business as a whole.Last month, I experienced error of accidentally paying from a linked account that should have been removed when I was removed from the account. I was a treasurer for a non-profit organization but transitioned away from this role at the end of 2022. I had a personal Desert Financial account that was opened in 1999. When I was treasurer, the organizations account showed up as business checking/savings when I would sign onto my online access. When I was removed and the incoming new treasurer was to be put on the account, we went into a branch to make sure it was done correctly. I no longer saw the account when I would sign onto my online account. However, I did not realize that the business checking account was still present on the BillPay screen. It showed up on the drop down menu but I did not realize there was a drop down tab. I had only ever initiated a new payee prior to being the treasurer so I didn’t even look to verify the payee would be paid from my only checking account when I set up new payees in September. We moved and I was setting up bill pay for new accounts related recently established. So, when I set up these payees in September, the drop down feature had the business checking listed first (but I didn’t see this). By this point, my account has listed only my personal checking account and my two saving account for nearly a year. The business accounts had been closed and not even in my thoughts anymore. Very unfortunately, the new payees were linked to be paid through the non-profit account. Fortunately, the non-profit became aware of this within a few days of the payments being withdrawn. I immediately paid the two payees with a non-Desert Financial account. The representative stated the two error payments would be returned to the non-profit. I called back the next day to speak with a different representative to give feedback to. I suggested Desert Financial owed the non-profit an apology and should check in with them since they had been the most inconvenienced due to Desert Financial’s mistake. As of today, no one has reached out to them. I know this because the current treasurer called me on Monday (10/16/23) and informed me that they had never had the funds returned, as promised by the Desert Financial representative. So, I wrote a check and it is working its way across the country via snail mail. Very soon after this all happened, my husband and I opened an account with a new local financial institution where we are now living. We will soon be closing our Desert Financial Checking, Savings, and Credit accounts. We already closed a saving account and a money market account in direct response to the multiple events of irresponsibility on Desert Financial’s part.1. The business checking account was not removed from bill pay access2. The initial representative handling the 2 bill payments made in error never apologized. They also said I would be responsible for any charges (fi they occur).3. Desert Financial did not check back in with the non-profit despite getting the clear picture that Desert Financial was in error should be working on behalf of their customers to amend the situation.4. The money pulled from the non-profit account was never redistributed back to them via Desert Financial.5. The time and inconvenience was 100% due to Desert Financial’s technical error in not removing access to an account. The customers fulfilled their obligation to come to the branch and fill out paperwork initiating the change but Desert Financial did not fulfill their obligation. As a result, Desert Financial will lose this longtime customer. They will likely lose the non-profit organization as a customer and the current treasurer as a long time customer as well (for her personal Desert Financial accounts).

I called today about multiple overdraft fees. The first woman I talked to was very sweet but our call got disconnected. I called back and got a very stern female that was very matter of fact and had no compassion. She didn’t even offer to try to help me. I asked for her supervisor and He was by far the nastiest customer service rep I’ve ever talked to. He was trying to play games with me and even laughed at me at one point. This is just unacceptable and unprofessional behavior. I can’t believe this is the cooperate office and this is the customer care culture that Desert Financial condones. I am truly disgusted. With everything going on this year you’d think there would be a little more compassion regarding their customers finances. He wouldn’t give me information on who to talk to about how he treated me either. Clearly he knew he was doing something wrong. I’m so disappointed.

Bank with them for over 10 years and they just get worse and worse over time. Their app is not are streamlined as other financial institutions. They used to be great when they were desert schools but since they've been trying to compete with banks like chase, BofA ect their customer service has gone way done.My experience had an accident and drugged up in the hospital so unable to manage my accounts like I normally would have. No issues in the past. Basically too drugged up to remember/call or access to my accounts and independent so dont have an account manager to move funds over and got hit with 5 NSF fees for items small items ( things like Netflix). Explained my situation said I had paper work, after 15 mins of trying to ask for a lil help or understanding, had to be start acting not so nice to finally get a partial credit for the fees.Their response basically "you should have had paid for our overdraft protection if you didnt want to get charge in case you were hospitalized"

Update: Well, I stayed, because it was too complicated to leave. And today, now that I'm a 31 year plus member, they did it again, mishandling an unauthorized transaction. It will take some time to get out, but I have another account elsewhere that I can make more use of and move stuff over. Nice job, DFCU. Hope you make good use of $35.00.
