Our second trip with Escape was phenomenal! We rented "Boba" for 9 nights and drove 2064 miles. We experienced Saguaro, Petrified Forest, Sedona, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Capitol Reef, St George and Zion. Thank you Escape for another "trip of a lifetime" - we look forward to being a 3rd time customer in the future!

DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. LOL, this place is an absolute nightmare. Our car broke down in the middle of the desert and we were stranded. We called their 24/7 roadside assistance who did not even answer! Luckily we had water and by some miracle we had phone service. We were on the side of the road as two young women for about three hours and escape campervans could not have cared less about our well-being and safety. Once we finally talked to them, they never even asked if we were okay or safe. At the beginning of this entire issue we called them and asked if we could get a new car delivered to us and they essentially said no way in hell. We spent over 10 hours in this entire debacle, got our car back and then had still had to drive it hundreds of miles with the “assurance” that we could get there safely. We had to skip the Grand Canyon and it’s entire experience because our entire day was wasted sitting in coffee shops and trying to assure our family members that we were safe. I am absolutely ashamed of this company and every single employee we dealt with aside from Matt in Phoenix who actually apologized to us. Karen from customer service is definitely a ‘Karen’ and while Danielle from roadside assistance was nice enough she still never apologized or asked if we were okay until we told her we were extremely unhappy. I would never recommend this company to anyone I know and will be actively discouraging people to use this company. We received one key because “the previous renters lost one,” our car had over 306,000 miles on it and when I made a comment the employee said “don’t worry, the engine should have been replaced at 300,000,” the bedding was a disaster and did not actually fit any of the beds, the rooftop sleeper had a broken zipper, the vent in the passenger side did not work at all AND there was an oil change sticker that was clearly changed from 306,420 to 308,420 which makes me think the safety of this vehicle is even worse than I assume. All of our trouble and our absolute disaster of a trip was worth around $300 to them which doesn’t even recoup the expenses we lost due to the issues. For instance, all of our food in the fridge spoiled when this happened and we had no choice but to eat out for every meal which cost over $300 in food alone. I keep getting angrier as I think about this situation and how completely unsafe we were and how lucky we were that are prepared and independent people. I know several friends and family members that could easily of had life threatening events happen by just driving this car. Absolutely disgusting to treat people like this and that our lives, well-being and time do not matter one bit. Worst company I have ever experienced and I literally crash landed skydiving due to instructor fault. I have contacted them multiple times, told them I would be reporting them to the better business bureau and was told “the regional manager thinks we gave you fair compensation.” I’m glad that when my life is in danger, they value it around $150–I work in healthcare and even the hospital thinks I’m worth more than that and we know how their employees are treated.

Disgusted in this company and how they treat their customers. My daughter had a van break down in the middle of the desert and they treated her with contempt instead of being concerned for her safety. Her trip was ruined, she couldn't see the Grand canyon and she spent her entire day trying to assure everyone she was safe instead of enjoying the trip she had planned for a year. They didn't even recoup her loses from the debacle. Would not recommend them to anyone. She told us they had maintenance stickers that had been altered and was told her van with over 300,000 miles "should have" had the engine replaced. Ashamed a company that doesn't put the well being of others ahead of profits is somehow thriving. Thank God she was on a desert road and not a cliff when the steering wheel locked and the car completely shut down.

We have never given any product or service a one star rating. But, this time it is justified. For many years, we planned to take a one month cross country trip exploring the history along Route 66.Our first clue should have been the conditions and cleanliness of the office where we received our camper van.The person handling our rental, was much more interested in processing our bank card, then explaining the details of the contract. In the first week, the locking system of the van malfunctioned. We were locked out of the van, and forced to sleep in a hotel until the next day, when the locksmith could come and open the vehicle. We continued on to Phoenix to meet friends that we had convinced to rent a van from Escape Camper Vans.We asked the employee in Phoenix to help us with our locking system problem. She offered to give us a van that we could lock up. The new vehicle was not clean and more worn out then our original rental van, but there was no other option. The four of us, in two old Escape Camper Vans, headed down Route 66.Our friends had the bad luck of receiving an even older van with steering issues, and our van had some kind of a motor problem and ran very rough, like an old tractor. So, the trip was very slow and worrisome. We were not comfortable traveling with the conditions of our vehicles, and decided to go straight to Chicago, cutting our trip short by five days, instead of enjoying the rest of our vacation. When we arrived to drop off the vans five days early, the company refused to give us a refund for those 5 days. The company representative said that in the six years that he had worked for Escape Camper Vans, there had NEVER been a refund for early return for ANY reason. The concept is great. But we were highly disappointed in the quality and condition of the camper vans and the company’s customer service policies.Do not make the same mistake that we did.The bottom line is that we were charged $6069.00 for the van rental, which is $242.76 per day.The equipment and services were just not worth it.

I wold not use Escape Camper vans ever again. Although our van “made it” from Phoenix to Chicago, it had over 335,000 miles on it, I believe the front tie rods were in need of repair as it was very difficult to steer on bumpy roads, our break lights were not working properly and the van was a bit dirty when we picked it up. Our stove did not work, the steering wheel was so sticky, we had to stop and buy cleaner to feel comfortable with it. The employees in Phoenix and Chicago were great, but I feel the management of the company is all about the bottom line and customer service is a VERY low priority once you sign your contract. BUYER BEWARE!

Rented the Big Sur, which we felt was just enough space for 2 people. Enjoyed the rooftop tent for better air circulation as we stayed in Arizona. Small issue with grey line being clogged, but it was quickly resolved by having a technician come to us. Overall, it was a unique and fun way to explore on our holiday. Flexibility with having the same bed every night. No regrets I'd recommend this as an option for anyone wanting to explore.

We rented a Maverick for 8 nights (p/u in Phoenix & drop off in Las Vegas). We saw 7 National parks, crossed 4 state lines, & drove approximately 1500 miles. It was incredible! The van was very comfortable & roomy. There’s tons of storage space. It was also fun to see everyone’s face as they checked out the artwork on the side (Grey Wolf). I will definitely plan another campervan trip in the future!!!

Always a great experience renting the camper vans! Wasn’t a super big deal but the only thing I wish was that they could’ve gave the van a quick car wash before we picked it up. Since it looked super dusty in and out. We made it work but since we were renting and spending so much money that extra touch would’ve been more comforting.

THE greatest adventure EVER! You really can’t beat waking up in the middle of nowhere, getting up and going wherever you feel like with all you could ever need so easily accessible. It was the perfect option for a camping trip in Arizona, I don’t think I’d ever go back to regular stays! Camper vans are the way to go if you really want to experience a place and “Escape Campervans” made it so easy to do.

Escape Campervans was an all around excellent experience. I rented a Maverick van for my trip. Plenty of space for coolers, bedding, luggage, food… ALL THE THINGS! The pullout bed was spacious and comfortable. The only complaint I have is the fridge. As this was a stationary camping trip, it would have been nice to have the fridge working without the van running. If they could make that happen, it would be an absolutely perfect setup! The folks at the Phoenix station were quick, pleasant, helpful, and overall great to work with. Definitely recommend Escape Campervans, and will be renting in the future!!

Had the trip of a lifetime in the Maverick van! Comes with everything you need for any type of adventure. Comfy bed and super easy kitchen fit out. The staff at this company was super friendly and accommodating! Roadside assistance was always available and they helped me multiple times on my 6 week trip. The fun paint job will make you lots of friends on your adventure. 10/10 recommend!

We rented our Escape Camper Van in Phoenix and dropped it off in Las Vegas. We travelled for 4 weeks in the van. Despite its age the engine ran smoothly, the tires were good, and the seats were comfortable. The design of the camper van was excellent, with the kitchen in the back and the benches and table that converted into a bed in the middle, and storage space under and behind the benches. We had an amazing trip and the camper van met our needs well.Unfortunately we had a few problems. The battery that ran the fridge and kitchen light was not functioning and our table was wobbly. Escape Camper Vans was really good in dealing with us around these problems. They paid for a cooler and ice for us and gave us a reasonable refund for these problems.Every where we went we met others in EscapeCamper Vans. Everyone was happy with them.We will be using them again and would recommend them highly.

The maverick campervan we rented was well setup and generally clean. We did have an issue with the window seal on the windscreen of our van however. It was given to us with the seal not fully installed causing disruptive wind noise while on any stretch of road at >45mph. I provided this feedback to escape campervans internal online systems to receive no response. I also provided this feedback to the receiving agent so I hope that it is rectified for the next customer. It wouldve been nice to have had this been rectified before our hire time with the van as it made all my conversations with my partner on the road very difficult/impossible to have through our driving from Phoenix to San Francisco. The return hours are inconvenient as well, the van has to be returned by 10am to not incur an extra full day charge which effectively means that you have to hire it for one more day than required, increasing the cost by quite a bit. The maverick van also averages around 18mpg which is another cost to factor in as well.

Reservation, pickup and drop off we’re great. Van had a good design. Mechanically the tan alignment felt off, pulled to the right and the passenger window seemed off track or needs a new seal. It was very loud.
