Unfortunately, I have to call Avella almost everyday for work. I swear every single time I call, I know I'm gonna have a hard time getting ahold of someone which makes me dread having to call them. My work is very fast paced as well, so I don't have all the time in the world to wait on the phone for them to answer. So trying to get ahold of them is like an all day deal. I'm not sure what's going on there behind the phones but they really need to get it together. Oh and another issue I have with them that I almost forgot! I always fax over a prescription request for my patients and on that sheet I put down a date that it needs to be dropped off by at my office. The prescription has NEVER been sent here by the date that I've put down. So every time I fax over a prescription request, I have to call them just to make sure they're sending it. Which isn't how its supposed to go. I've never written a review on a company before, but I had to on this one because its a constant battle/struggle with them.

Every time I needed a refill, I'd be on the phone on hold for 30 minutes, only to be told that they couldn't find me in their database (after years of being a customer). After multiple calls over the course of two weeks, I'd finally get my Rx. Of course by then, I'd be out of my medication for a week. I changed pharmacies.

Thank you for delivering my order so quickly! Because of my experience purchasing my medications, I am grateful that your store has appeared to provide such a service. I don't always have the ability to get the medications and supplies I need.

Avella yet again made a serious error not even 2 months after their first serious error in June 2020. I was sent a progesterone in oil medication refill needed for the embryo transfer portion of my IVF without needles and syringes. The medication is prescribed for IM injection. Once again this occurred on the weekend when no one is available. Thankfully a local large animal store sells needles and syringes and I was able to get a supply so I would not miss doses of a time sensitive medication. Without this store I would have missed 3 doses of my medication. When I call today to speak to a supervisor in response to how this could happen was they have a lot of new people and wouldn’t necessarily know that the prescription needed to go along with needles and syringes. Pharmacist and pharmacy technicians are trained professionals and I cannot understand how they would not know an injectable medication requires a needle and syringe to administer. The supervisor also apologized for the inconvenience. Medical errors are not inconveniences they are serious mistakes, to them yes it is an inconvenience, but for me it is potentially not being able to have a baby because of the error, this seems like more than an inconvenience. Supervisor said she filed a report and it wouldn’t happen again. This is the same thing I was told in June with Avella’s first medication error, the company managed to fill one set of prescriptions before making an error again. This is error occurred even with the addition to an employee at Optum Corporate watching over my scripts after Avella’s first error with my medications. It concerns me greatly a company fills specialty medications like fertility medications, but does not seem to grasp how important and time sensitive of the medications are. If you have any other options for fertility medications do not use Avella/Optum Speciality Pharmacy the mistakes and complete lack of empathy for what consequences their actions have is heartbreaking to deal with.

Absolutely the worst customer service of any company that I have ever dealt with, which is saying a lot! Unfortunately I have a couple of specialty medicines that my insurance company says I have to get through them. In the approximately 8 months that I have had to deal with them I have had numerous problems with my orders. The majority of the times that I have had to get my medicine refilled there have been issues with the order. And normally when you call them you have to wait at least 20 minutes to be able to speak with someone. At least recently they have set it up where you can get a call back. Unfortunately I will have to call them on Monday to get my latest refill order corrected since they have once again messed up my order!

This pharmacy used to be my 'go to' place for my compounded medication. I used to be able to go to their Scottsdale location and pick up my Rx. Then they stopped supporting my medication there and I had to get it from an isolated location that can only ship. I had no choice but to do that. It worked well enough. I would've left them a few stars because the were at least meeting minimum expectations. But it got worse.
