I've been using Melrose Pharmacy for 8 years, and it's been a great local spot in the Melrose District. The pharmacy has a friendly staff, a gift shop, and offers general OTC medications. They also provide compounding services, which has been great for pet prescriptions.
The reason for three stars.... Over the past several months, their texting service that updates you on prescription status has been down. This has been a problem off and on over the years.
When it’s not working, the pharmacy staff doesn’t step in to fill the gap. I have to call every month to check on my prescriptions, even though I’m supposed to have automatic refills. The lack of communication when this system is down is disappointing, and it makes managing prescriptions inconvenient.
I try to support local when I can, but these ongoing issues with basic services has made me consider switching to a chain pharmacy.

Refused my business with a ridiculous explanation of “Your doctor must have an office within 5 miles of our pharmacy.”

I like this pharmacy and have been using it for years. Normally I would have given 5 stars but I’ve had a
few concerns with the last few
refills. Friday I watched my doctor electronically send 3 refills to Melrose. I called Monday afternoon and I’m told they’re working on issues with them. These are meds I’ve been taking for years. Plus I was placed on hold a
couple of times. At the end of my conversation with the lady she assured me they will contact me and was pleasant.

I love the atmosphere .... Scout is amazing, always remembers me. I'm not there to have a party, but Adam could be more friendly. "hello are are you today" goes a long way. .... one medication keeps coming wrong. It was ten minutes to close once - I realized insulin came with no needles & my glucose was closing in on 300 . I called and asked if they would stay open five minutes for needle pickup. Adam said no. I thought that the pharmacy should have realized when they filled the prescription that needles were not prescribed. Big mix upTheresa is the lovely owner but I don't see her much -It's convenient and I enjoy the vibe!

Came in with my 3yo daughter today since we live in the neighborhood. We were on the last leg of a late afternoon walk and decided to stop in and grab some drinks, a popsicle for the little one, and to check out the Halloween decorations. Large man at the counter asked if we had a prescription pick up. I shared that we did not, but stopped in since my daughter enjoyed the decorations. (Silence)No response. Super abrupt stop in interaction. Kind of weird, but we proceeded to look around lol I was impressed by the selection and I shared that with the large man at the counter and recieved a very passive "Yeah" along with no eye contact and no further interaction. Decided not to patron this establishment due to the unwelcoming energy and treated the little one to a smoothie from Copper Star.

Excellent customer service. They really care about their customers. Plus, I love supporting a small, local business.

My mom asked for prescription from her vet for her dog they sent it to melrose instead of her normal pharmacy her dog is on the tiny tabs for his heart. Well melrose doesn’t compound the tiny tabs they only do capsules he can’t take capsules but nobody told her that so they just made the capsules and charged her a 180.00 when I tried to talk to them some idiot named Alex told me that wasn’t his problem so my mom is out that money and she’s 85 years old and on a fixed income that hurts her financially but these people don’t care. So don’t use these clowns unless you want to be robbed. If they would have told her they didn’t compound tiny tabs she would have never used them. There thieves as simple as that

I’m a 66 year old woman who drove from Tempe to Phoenix (~ 20 miles) to pick up my Rx. Just know that Melrose Pharmacy will not let customers use the restroom; customers are considered the “public”. I asked for an exception and was told the only public restroom was the bar in the strip mall which opened at 4 (and it was 10 am). Know this before doing business with them. I’ll be using a compounding pharmacy recommended by my doctor closer to my home from now on.

Everyone here has always treated me well and kept me informed as to my insurance, prescriptions and mailing my medications. Teresa, Amy and Scout are very thorough and professional. Thanks for being awesome!

Pros: Everyone here has been nice and super helpful, and I've had no issues getting prescriptions filled. Also got all 3 Moderna vaccines here.MAJOR CON: They are actively prescribing ivermectin (horse dewormer) to cure/treat/prevent COVID-19, which has been proven by science to do absolutely nothing. They are pushing pseudoscience and should not be supported, regardless of their small business status.

Great pharmacy! Was the only local pharmacy who was able to stock my medications during a COVID-induced shortage (also the only pharmacy that seemed to care about me getting my prescription). Have been sticking with them ever since. Kind staff and quick service, clean and appealing interior. My ONLY note is that it's quite small, and therefore doesn't seem to have a customer-accessible restroom. I don't live close, and having a restroom would be very convenient due to their location being a little isolated from nearby bathroom alternates.
