Mormon Trailhead, located on South Mountain in Phoenix, is a popular outdoor destination known for its well-marked, scenic trails that offer both challenge and reward. Visitors appreciate the moderate difficulty of the hike, particularly noting that while the initial section can be tough, the remainder is manageable, making it suitable for a variety of hikers, including families with children. The area is clean and well-maintained, providing a pleasant starting point without feeling overcrowded. Hikers can enjoy beautiful rock formations, classic Sonoran plants, and stunning views, especially during sunrise hikes, which are perfect for photography.
However, some visitors have expressed concerns about cleanliness, particularly regarding dog owners who fail to pick up after their pets. Overall, Mormon Trailhead is highly recommended for anyone in Phoenix seeking fresh air, adventure, and a memorable hiking experience. The combination of fun, fitness, and beautiful scenery makes it a must-visit spot for both locals and tourists alike.
Nice trail, especially the hidden Valley tunnel and the fats man. Make sure to properly read the signs. We got lost.

Came for a sunset hike and loved the stunning views, free parking and nice 2.5 mile workout with 700 feet of elevation gain plus there are other trails to explore if you want to go farther.
