Yall need to step it up and hire more cashiers and learn how to order grocery bags. The lines are ridiculous. No wonder people just steal. Do better

We have been shopping at this Safeway since we moved to Phoenix over 4 years ago. While shopping today, I saw 2 people put the food from their grocery cart into their backpacks. I asked them if they were going to pay for the food and they quickly ran to the front doors. I alerted the check out staff that these 2 people had put their food in their backpacks, and was told, with a shrug, that they could not stop them. I was told that it is company policy and a security risk to stop shoplifters. I am disappointed that this is their company policy - one that obviously impacts the cost of groceries to everyone that shops at Safeway. No wonder groceries have gone up so much!

Richie in the meat dept is awesome!! Not only does he have the best personality and customer service, but hooked me up with some amazing beef ribs! Highly recommend going there and asking for him!

Safeway. I do not know why Safeway has such low ratings on Yelp. They have lots of food, all types. Today B. helped me with my checkout dilemma. Very helpful, polite, capable. If you really like some aspect of the staff and service, let the managers know. They note these things. We depend in Safeway for a large part of our foods. I shop hard and find decent bargains. I see no reason to give this clean store with pleasant music and excellent employees, plus food! a 1 or 2 rating.

Be careful! Yes sale items are nice and very comparable to Fry's however Items marked on sale and digital sales do not ring up on sale 4 out of 5 visits! They do kindly refund the difference when I take the items to the customer service...but should I have to check every time. Anywhere from $2-8 have been corrected in each of my recent purchases that are usually weekly! Location is so convenient for me but could be costly if I don't check my receipt!

What I love about this Safeway, is very convenient. They have a Starbucks inside. I get very good deals on their Ready To Cook meals. One of my go to places for Sushi. I love using the self service registers.

We have been shopping at this store for over 16 years now. We drop about $100-$150 there at least every 7-8 days. We had been regular FRYS customers, but grew tired of the increasing crime ridden, inner city experience at the one on 7th Ave/Camelback, and decided that in spite of the higher prices, Safeway had proven to be a much better store overall, so we switched. Especially as it related to customer service at the time. Well...let's just say that's slowly changed and now we're just done. It started with a trip to the deli this morning. Only 2 people working both sides, with a couple of people standing around by the fried chicken area, just talking only to each other, and ignoring the line of customers beginning to form. Finally a tall young man in dreadlocks, in the meat/cheese section, stared blankly at me. I GREETED HIM, and asked politely for my first item. He never spoke, never acknowledged me, just put my stuff together, and then just handed it to me, again without speaking. When I asked for my second item, he sighed loudly, and began looking for what I needed. When he realized he would have to open a new turkey breast, he grabbed the item and threw it over by the slicer. Never asked me how I wanted it sliced, nothing. Just sliced away, weighed it, packaged it and handed it to me. Again...never speaking. Then we get to only one of 3 check out lines on a busy Saturday morning. Yes, only 3. Lines so long they are down the aisles. Lucky us, we drew "Jerry C" for our cashier. The man has the personality of a clenched fist. Never looked at us, never greeted us. I finally spoke up and said, "HI!" he looked at me and said, "hey" and went back to scanning. When I asked him if he wanted us to put our case of water on the conveyor belt, before I could finish, he snapped at me and barked, "Leave it in the cart!"....uh okay Jerry. Calm down. He continued to look down the whole time, barked out our total, waited for the bagger to finish bagging our stuff, and then handed me the receipt and said, "have a nice day." That dude has some serious anger issues. Here's a tip Jerry, you're in the wrong line of work. Maybe ol' Jerry there, should stand around and observe Bill. A really nice guy, who understands his job, and treats customers with kindness and some respect. Jerry and his counterpart in the deli, are shining examples of the kind of store this Safeway has turned into. Wasn't like this, even just a few short years ago. We're not going to be back. We'll miss people like Bill, but that's about it.

I've been to this safeway many times. Not all, but majority of the people who work here are extremely rude, especially the pharmacists. I have even had an experience with a manager and he wasn't to happy either. I like the store, it's always pretty clean and not too crowded but if you have to ask for help from anyone, expect to be talked down to.

This rating is for the store at Osborne and 7th Ave. in Phoenix. My shopping process today was fine until I used the self checkout system. I have shopped here numerous times before. I used to buy shop here often. However, one of your store associates made me feel like a criminal while invading my personal space as I'm clearly PAYING for my items at the self checkout register. I even entered my phone to use my membership. She was rude when I asked her about it as well. I offered to her because she stood so closely behind me, "May I help you?" To which she said, "I work here." I responded, "Well you're standing right behind me in my personal space which makes me think you something." She then in a raised voice said "I can stand anywhere."

Every time I go to this location in my work uniform (construction clothes) I'm accused of stealing and have to provide my receipt at self checkout. This has now happened 4 different times. I make almost 40 dollars an hour and have not once ever stolen an item and have never been caught stealing when shown the receipt. I'm not sure why this staff views construction workers as low life or low wage but we make a lot more than they think and don't need to steal. It's very saddening and concerning

This Safeway is a good one. The only downside is how busy it can get being one of a few grocery stores in the midtown area. Everything is well organized, well stocked, and kept clean. Half of the cashiers are friendly enough to strike up a conversation.
