I stopped at this Safeway store back in the summer on my vacation here. Nice spot in a big shopping center with lots of parking and nearby stores. I walked inside and went right to the Deli. I had to wait a little bit for the employees to finish making another batch of chicken . Store is nice and clean. The produce and shelves are all stocked properly. Good employees here. Cant wait to visit again.

The worst Safeway in Phoenix, Elliot/48th St. Besides having absolutely no customer service, horrible prices, the driest chicken on the planet- The customer service manager, Janelle took a $500 gift card from me, with my receipt and Safeway corporate will not do anything about it. This wasn't malice, but ignorance. Until they resolve this, I will not be silenced.

The kid just sat on his phone at the self check out while I had issues. Partially fixed one thing, then right back to the phone. The items in the dairy section were pushed so far back that I had to get on the floor and reach to the back. Who ever "manages" this place should get reviewed by his/her boss STAT. I won't be back. 7:00 PM self check out. Fire that worthless employee, or take his phone away.

The guy at the go drive section passed me twice, ignoring me and having to get called up to the cashiers only to get told that I was waiting. He then talked to me in Spanish, profiling me as he assumed I knew Spanish because of the color of my skin

This store needs an overhaul of management and customer service. Like in other stores I go through self checkout. Never had an issue before at other stores and something happened I put large item in buggy after ringing it in and not in bag and the system tripped. The system called the attendant and I was accused of trying to steal. Why would I steal when trying to pay for my items. The customer service associate racially profiled me. Beware of large Mexican with glasses he hates white people. This experience was horrible being accused of something I did not do. I spoke with management and explained my concerns but nothing was done the man is still racially profiling people in customer service roll. Someone like him should not be on floor. This store should be retrained.

Here's my update Dawn.... it's been a month since my original review and you still have your store 1/2 locked down. I swore I wouldn't go back, but after reading your response (which sounded "caring").... I decided to give it another try. You are super close to where I work and I thought I'd grab a sandwich. Well guess what?! That side of the store is still designated "Exit Only". WHY?!!!! Do you guys not understand how difficult it is for some people to walk? You are in a high senior citizen area so maybe you should move your water to a different location and allow 2 ways to enter and exit. I'm sure I'm not the only one cringing with every step. Again, you are the only one still doing this.

(6/19/20)I have been here a number of times since it's right down the street from the Ahwatukee EoS. Safeway is always a convenient stop for a grocery haul or some quick eats. Compared to the other Maricopa County Safeways I've been to, this one has taken some getting used to; it's a little more cramped, and I'm not onboard with how the store is organized (i.e. eggs and bacon are in the back -- around the corner -- not intuitively along the wall like in other such stores). However, never mind the aforementioned remarks. My real annoyance was with one of the staff members at the self-checkout line. Although seemingly friendly with the other shoppers in my midst, when it was my turn to scan my items, she just pointed at one of the machines. There was no, "This one's available!" or even a hello. Just an ominous, prickly point. Who the hell do you think you are, the Angel of Death? Nonsense. It was that gesture which sullied my impression of the staff (though the others really do a fantastic job keeping the store running smoothly and safely, and I do of course thank them). To my warden, however -- save the pointing for when you see a pretty meteor. I can locate and operate my own checkout machine. We'll see how things go tomorrow when I drop by for more post-gym goodies. Godspeed.
