I needed a cake for my daughter's birthday. I only had 20 dollars. The cake cost $24.99. I thought maybe if I asked for some type of help from customer service there. Maybe I could get it. Nope straight out denied. I'm sorry babe I let you down. I even said I could pay the rest in a couple of days. Nope.

We have been shopping at this store for over 16 years now. We drop about $100-$150 there at least every 7-8 days. We had been regular FRYS customers, but grew tired of the increasing crime ridden, inner city experience at the one on 7th Ave/Camelback, and decided that in spite of the higher prices, Safeway had proven to be a much better store overall, so we switched. Especially as it related to customer service at the time. Well...let's just say that's slowly changed and now we're just done. It started with a trip to the deli this morning. Only 2 people working both sides, with a couple of people standing around by the fried chicken area, just talking only to each other, and ignoring the line of customers beginning to form. Finally a tall young man in dreadlocks, in the meat/cheese section, stared blankly at me. I GREETED HIM, and asked politely for my first item. He never spoke, never acknowledged me, just put my stuff together, and then just handed it to me, again without speaking. When I asked for my second item, he sighed loudly, and began looking for what I needed. When he realized he would have to open a new turkey breast, he grabbed the item and threw it over by the slicer. Never asked me how I wanted it sliced, nothing. Just sliced away, weighed it, packaged it and handed it to me. Again...never speaking. Then we get to only one of 3 check out lines on a busy Saturday morning. Yes, only 3. Lines so long they are down the aisles. Lucky us, we drew "Jerry C" for our cashier. The man has the personality of a clenched fist. Never looked at us, never greeted us. I finally spoke up and said, "HI!" he looked at me and said, "hey" and went back to scanning. When I asked him if he wanted us to put our case of water on the conveyor belt, before I could finish, he snapped at me and barked, "Leave it in the cart!"....uh okay Jerry. Calm down. He continued to look down the whole time, barked out our total, waited for the bagger to finish bagging our stuff, and then handed me the receipt and said, "have a nice day." That dude has some serious anger issues. Here's a tip Jerry, you're in the wrong line of work. Maybe ol' Jerry there, should stand around and observe Bill. A really nice guy, who understands his job, and treats customers with kindness and some respect. Jerry and his counterpart in the deli, are shining examples of the kind of store this Safeway has turned into. Wasn't like this, even just a few short years ago. We're not going to be back. We'll miss people like Bill, but that's about it.

I've been to this safeway many times. Not all, but majority of the people who work here are extremely rude, especially the pharmacists. I have even had an experience with a manager and he wasn't to happy either. I like the store, it's always pretty clean and not too crowded but if you have to ask for help from anyone, expect to be talked down to.

This rating is for the store at Osborne and 7th Ave. in Phoenix. My shopping process today was fine until I used the self checkout system. I have shopped here numerous times before. I used to buy shop here often. However, one of your store associates made me feel like a criminal while invading my personal space as I'm clearly PAYING for my items at the self checkout register. I even entered my phone to use my membership. She was rude when I asked her about it as well. I offered to her because she stood so closely behind me, "May I help you?" To which she said, "I work here." I responded, "Well you're standing right behind me in my personal space which makes me think you something." She then in a raised voice said "I can stand anywhere."

Every time I go to this location in my work uniform (construction clothes) I'm accused of stealing and have to provide my receipt at self checkout. This has now happened 4 different times. I make almost 40 dollars an hour and have not once ever stolen an item and have never been caught stealing when shown the receipt. I'm not sure why this staff views construction workers as low life or low wage but we make a lot more than they think and don't need to steal. It's very saddening and concerning

This Safeway is a good one. The only downside is how busy it can get being one of a few grocery stores in the midtown area. Everything is well organized, well stocked, and kept clean. Half of the cashiers are friendly enough to strike up a conversation.

only had a few dollar to buy something to eat. That would last at least a couple of days. So I went to Safeway in Apache Junction az. I purchased the chicken. Already cooked. It the see thru plastic container. It was about $6.00. I know that doesn't sound like much. But when you only have $10.00 to feed yourself and another. It's like a million dollars. I purchased the individual pieces chicken. Went home. And was so Disappointed!! They had placed the pieces of chicken in such a way, that you could not see the burnt, BLACKENED pieces. I tried to pull the chicken off the bone. Just to find it EXTREMELY HARD INSIDE. Completely DRIED out and burnt. Out of about 8 pieces, I only hard about a cooked breast of chicken, that was hardly edible. I led my child eat what he could. I went hungry. SHAME ON YOU, SAFEWAY. . THAT CHICKEN WAS AT L AST 3 DAYS OLD

I enjoy coming to this Safeway . It's in my neighborhood and the Cashiers and especially the Customers Service Rep are friendly and always smiling and greeting Us. Today especially I was in the Meat Department and was picking up some steaks for dinner, there was a New Meat Guy very friendly and not only did He say Hi but he he introduced him self "Hi ma'am my name is Richie if there is anything I can help you with let me know while filling up chicken. I asked Richie about advise about the steaks on sale and I was sold. I will continue to shop at this Safeway.

I like this location. Of course since Covid they have cut back on their deli which I have always loved from when I lived in Midtown before. Good sandwiches. Also, stock seems very low a lot but that is an issue everywhere I suppose. Good register openings and a Starbucks if that is your thing. I recently moved back to Midtown Phoenix and have been going here again. It is the closest grocer to me. Not many choices nearby for shopping. The only thing that might be monitored better are the rude people who park in the pick up only spots, double park at the curb or fire lane to run in, really? Parking in a fire lane is a big No No for me having Fire Fighter loved ones in my Peeps family. I have also been almost hit in the parking lot a few times. I find a lot of folks here park awful and have even hit my car. So if you go park further away. It is an older neighborhood so part of that is the narrow smaller spaces and too big vehicles we have these days. Yes, Safeway costs more than other chains. However, I feel they have nicer stores and cheaper on gas I suppose. A heads up, the people in the Pharmacy do not seem well informed on things and can be short with customers in my experience. I took off a star for some of these things but overall it usually is a good experience when I shop here.
